Drum's sample pack's?

Post by thierry_le_dj »

well its probably not the place here but i've started making some DnB and Hip Hop beats but i keep using my dubstep drum sample pack as i don't have any of the other genre's and the the sample i got a while back in computer music magazine..

would you use dubstep sample pack's to make DnB and HipHop?

where do you normally buy your Drum's sample pack's?

Use any samples for anything, just because it's from dubstep sample pack doesn't mean it can't be used for Dnb or even some gabba. if you get a unique sound to your drums then you're onto a winner. If you use the same ol shit that everyone else uses then your just another whatchamacallit. resample anyway.

^Yeah, this.

Drums are drums;

there are no right or wrong ways to use them outside of functional restraints dictated by the mix itself, like faster decay times for DnB drums because of the tempo.

Freesound.org is always good! Search for hip hop drums (or just drums) ;-) Obviously you got listen to a bunch before you find some you like ... but I've found some good ones there (looperman.com - is also not too bad). Ableton Session Drums is awesome btw...

I use hip hop, house/electro and break samples to make my dubstep beats. A punchy kick is always a punchy kick...

the majority of dnb drums are sampled loops chopped up and resequenced. Dogsonacid has a massive list of them :)

'dubstep drums' and 'dnb drums' is just marketing. use ADSR, pitch, layering and you can use any (good) drums for anything.
