really like this. the only thing i can think of is that you could possibly add a few backing hi-hats in to your drum pattern to give it a constant flow, but that's just my personal opinion

@WeedKeepa, love the dark feel of Penny Picker. diggin the bass for sure. not too sure about the snare though. the actual sample itself is fine but i think you should tone sown that reverb and make it a little more subtle. maybe make it a bit more punchy? idk how to say what im feeling right now :lol:

@Mortal, The kick is great! feelin the overall chill vibe of this track. maybe add a little velocity variation when the shakers come in to give it more of a natural sound.

Workings of a great jungly track there. The vocals and the sub fit really well. Watch out at the 25second mark, after that drop the hats start doing something a bit weird.

@a.paul
Nice sample on incapable, incidentally also used in a Combichrist track. I'd soften up those hats with a bit of attack maybe. I'd also reduce the reverb on the bass a little bit and bring it out a bit sharper, but I like the sound you're going for on that bassline, gives a nice ambient feel.

Here's one I started on last night. It's a bit slow for dubstep; more like monged out quarter-time DnB. It came out a bit quiet so whack the volume up.

That's really laidback, nice tune. Only thing I'd say is take out a few of the kicks. Leave them to push the track along instead of having such a dominant presence, esp in the latter half of the track where they're fighting for space with the snares.

@nruen

This is really promising. I'm not a fan of the bit past 3.11 i'm afraid, but the section just before that (1.50-3.00 ish) sounds like a really, really nice dark intro to something big. I'd definitely build off that, loved the very subtle hat that gets introduced about halfway though it, i'd do more of that, put that section at the start of the song and work from there. Some really great ideas in this though.

@weedcali

This is a nice start to something. The crackles you have right at that start are great, if i were you i'd make more of them. Scrap the hihat that comes in later and just arrange those "pop" and "crackle" sounds to be the ornamentation to you percussion and i think it could be really interesting. Sidechaning stuff like that can work well, and really make your tunes pump, but i think you need a much stronger kick to do it, at the moment it doesn't really feelik the there's a thud that's pushing the bass away, just that the bas is dropping for no reason. Looking forward to hear a more finished version though.

@ tripwire

Listened to "no air between us", loving the drums on it, they've got great movement to them, though i think they're a bit loud in the mix atm (obviously it's a wip and mixdown is later, but bear it in mind). I think you've got a couple of tuning issues here too. Some of the percussion clashes with the synths you're using, and the wind instrument (at 0.27) doesn't really sit well with them either. Once everything's tightened up and made longer i'm expecting a great tune from this though, despite how it might sound above.

would love suggestions for this:

@continuumdub
Nice one man. I kinda agree, 3.11 onwards is just something I was playing around with last night.

Nice jazzy piece there mate, the sax is a bit harsh & overbearing in the mix atm but you probably know that. Around 1.18 the frequencies of the piano and the sax seriously contend, I don't know if you'd want to shift the octaves around or eq the piano but I would definitely not mess around with that lovely sax sound.
Those vocal pads that come in are great, keeps the track flowing nicely.

On the whole a great track, nice and orginal. The piano sound needs a bit of spice on it, sounds a bit General Midi-esque atm. I'd probably go for a nice crackly sample in it's place, would add so much depth and feeling imo, or just put the teensiest bit of overdrive on it and give it some stereo width. Also a bit of reverb on the claps would go down lovely.

That little wub that goes on throughout is perfect imo. Great track.

I've been on vacation for a while so i wasn't able to give some more feedback etc. So these are just a few random picks.

@weedcali
Love this one. Really like the vibe and there are lots a possibilities to take the tune even further. Deffinitly got a nice weather warm sounding vibe going on. Sidechaining on the bass is indeed a bit to much. But I'm sure you'll figure something out.

@continuumdnb
The kick isn't really coming through. Beef it up. Also I think you should bring down the volume of the sax sample. It kinda takes over everything you hear. And maybe its just me, but somehow I get the feeling its a bit out of tune. Other then that I kinde liked the song :)

@soulshynchyld
Soundwise I think it is really good sounding! I also like the way how it builds up. It constantly gives me the feeling that the track is moving forward taking me somewhere else.

'preciate the feedback, mixdown is something i haven't put much thought into yet (as it seems people can tell) so it' good to knwo where to start. That piano is an actual vinyl sample though xD, I'll try to find a pianist, or change it to guitar and record it myself. The overdrive idea is great too, and something i'll definitely try. I'll turn up the reverb on the claps too :)

Edit @ soulschynd:

Really nice atmosphere you have going, i agree with an ealier poster about the kicks though, I'd replace almost all of them with the sort of percussion you have right at the start, leaving only the kick right at the start of every bar to drive the piece along, even those left could probably do with coming down a tad in the mix too.
