did you even consider that a lot of the sounds he uses here aren't even electronic sounds anymore?
flylo showed who's top dog among ALL beatmakers with this album.

re: sonic quality
perhaps he wanted a warm, fuzzy, slightly muddy retro nostalgic sound going on rather than a polished, modern day EQ'd to death sound?
a lot of the layers and textures are thick and rich, just not in a high end digital production sense, sounds like basic standard mics used in everyday situations rather than top end everything in super-fancy studios
could be well off here though

Hmmm....
Didn't have any expectations for this album.
I heard all the track previews on Juno download when it was released this week, then decided to buy it all.
Its a growing album.
1. I find it more sweeter & richer than L.A
2. I like the organic angle Fly Lo has gone
3. Its similar but different to L.A, as much as i love L.A, this feels more mature
4. For me this is a more rounded attempt at making a complete album.
Still need to listen to this more.
Been reading lots of reviews online & everyone is giving this favorable, positive & constructive reviews.
Now all that is needed is Fly Lo to come back to Sydney for the crew!

Re: Cosmogramma
still have my fucking vinly copy
great album !

Re: Cosmogramma
i love it, much better than LA imo.
like everyone says its 'a grower' made to be listened to as an album with a few highlights.
dunno what that waste raver is talking about re sonic quality, it sounds great - as intended.

Re: Cosmogramma
This sounds fantastic. Wish a few tunes were mastered a little louder, like Computer Face//Pure Being should've had Parisian Goldfish style loudness. That said though, easily the best album I've heard this year. Feels much more complete than LA, proper 1950s sci-fi movie vibes, and that Table Tennis tune is just bananas.

funny how criticism is taken on this board. especially with people it doesn't even concern.incnic wrote:i love it, much better than LA imo.

Went to a Buddhist festival yesterday.
Sat down in the sun, turned "Cosmogramma" on & just watched the people/dancers on stage, smelt the incense, food, flowers......the album made sense amongst all that activity.
Fucking brilliant really!

Re: Cosmogramma
like most people here i'm really loving the album. in regards to the "poor" sonic quality. i think that was the sound he was going for..

Re: Cosmogramma
if you want this album to sound like LA did, just run it through a roland sp-XXX compressor.
i dig it...
lots more jazz influences especially on second half

Re: Cosmogramma
I've listened to the record about twice in it's full form. It never clicked yet, but that could be me? Unfortunately, my MP3 player's quite shit, and I can't put the album on. "Pseudo-Nymph" is still one of my favorites though, and the table-tennis tune made me and a friend burst into laughter at the notion.
Re: Cosmogramma
This is Flylo's best yet. Zodiac Shit and Computer face are my favorites. It's a great album.
