@ 9feetofsmoke great structure, strong track but maybe just keep working on the sounds, and the first bass saw sounds a little hollow
@ drdeft Nice man I liked the over all vibe and sweet build/double time breakdown at the end!

I played this track on my keyboard and looped it and added effects live... so it has a little looseness about it. Not exactly dubstep either. If you comment on mine ill comment on yours:]Soundcloud/soundcloud]

@ MC Wayne, i don't know about the only one, i've been called 'Brostep' too? Someone confirm! Samples are nice though, especially the last 2. Might have to start doing that 'wobble libary' myself.

@ 9feetofsmoke Big tune my man! What is it that comes in just before the drop, sounds like a real short cut of a break? Sounds good. The only thing i'd say, and this is only personal preference, is i'm not really keen on open hi-hats on every off beat in general. It only majorly happens right after the drop though, and because the other hats get drowned out in the mix it sounds like it's only that open that that's going on. Pretty small observation though, so good job bro.

@ Subside, cheers for the words bro! Really like your track, chilled. Love those sounds you have mingling in with the kicks, no other way to describe them but squelchy? What are they? Would like a 320 when you're done.

Only just woken up but gonna get back to work on this now even though i have shitloads of coursework. Any more feedback so far would be grand.

" Here's my WIP, hasn't even got a subbass yet and a very minimal mixdown but it'd still be nice to get some initial opinions. Bit of background, it's actually a house track i made about a year ago called 'Vibe', thought i'd throw out a quick remix of it to see what happens, and i think i'm liking it so far. You can find the origional on youtube atm (search for james marsh - vibe) but the mixdown is complete cack as i literally had no idea about mixing then. Not that i do now heh. "

Cheers 9feet! Replied to your PM too.

Wayne, all you gotta do to whack it on here is click the 'soundcloud' button at the top when you're writing then put the soundcloud URL in the middle.

Like the track so far, it's got some 'brosteppy' synths but in a weird way it keeps it kinda eerie and shuffly, not in your face. I like it! Work on bringing the drums into the foreground more, and i can't hear much, if any, subbass.

But then again i'm no expert, as you're about to find out;

--

So i've done a bit more, but i don't have my monitors so really fucking hard to mix. How is the sub sitting? General mixdown comments would be appreciated.

@Marshy, I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. Those glitchy sounds were an accident gone good to be honest I found them in a folder on my computer that I had no clue exsisted until recently I changed quite a few things up since that last version but check out your inbox soon enough for that 320 :w:

@Marshy: Sounds pretty awesome. I'm really dissapointed it's so short actually. As soon as I heard that bass I was hoping the clip would be longer. So you need to get that bad boy finished so we can hear it.

@Psythe: Liking the low growly bass you use. I think the first part with the bass felt a bit empty for some reason. I'm hearing some sub bass and everything, but it just feels like something is missing. Maybe if you have some quick stab sounds, it would help to just throw one in here every couple bars in that first part. I felt some of the breaks were a bit quick. They kind of just popped up unexpectedly and were over just as quick as they started. Maybe it's just the transitions, but they felt forced, you know what I mean?

@MC Wayne: I like what you got there. I'm assuming this is possibly an intro? The ghostly wobbles sound great as an intro, but there's not a lot there to really gauge what's happening fully, but once you get some more in the track I'll be able to be more precise.

@Subside: It's strangely good. These sounds are just not something you expect to hear put to use in the same track, but at the same time they really seem to work. I love finding stuff like that on my computer. I download a lot of sample packs and sounds that I find randomly on the net or through links on forums and I always forget about them. Just the other day I found a folder filled with glitch samples that I never even knew I had.

@Haack: As always, solid sound. I think I've enjoyed just about every post you've made in these WIP threads since I started using them. Would love to hear this Blackheart track when you finish it. It's so chilled. I love those thick wobbles you used with the subbass, they sound perfect together. I'm still trying to figure out how to get that type of deep growly wobble to go along with my subs. I actually liked the snare myself. I thought it fit with the flow. With this sound I don't think it needs a thick snare. I like the short snap of the snare and it's got that nice reverby sound to kind of thicken it up just a little bit without actually making it beefy.

I'm still trying to come up with stuff for the track in my sig but I don't really know what else I can do. IF anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate any thoughts. A friend of mine told me I should change the name to Hypnotic or something similar cause he thinks it would make more sense. I'm still iffy on it's name at this point.

@JBE, I know I love findings things! also that tune in your sig is great as it is personally I think the percussion is a bit to quiet and that melodic pad sweepy thing you used through out the track is taking away from them but with some proper mixing I'm sure everything will sound great together keep me posted on the finished product I really enjoyed how it took me on a journey somewhere else :)

@marshy liking the funky intro and the girls vocals! bass drop is kinda heavy for my tatse but for that kind of style it sounds gd!

@JBE Nice percussion in this, and the main instrument has a nice sound and melody to it and i like how it pans or whatever you did to it!
Not too sure about the bass drop part to be honest, not sure if it really fits with the vibe of the rest of the track, liking the rest of it though!

heres mine updated version of something im working on
some nice synths and vocal chops kinda 2step garage thing, not mixed yet, feedback appreciated!

@JBE: Overall mix sounds good, I think cleaning up the reverb tail on the snare would bring it out more, perhaps even go a bit more dry, bass needs to come out more as well.

@Kontigobeats: Like where this ones going, but that sidechain is a bit much, I think it would be more effective if it was less noticible.

Cheers, and thanks for the comments and tips.

Thanks for the feedback/suggestions, very much appreciated. I've spent a good portion of the last few hours just working on the mix itself. Trying to adjust levels and try to utilize the suggestions I've been givin.

So basically I've dried up the snare a bit as well as gave it a bit more high end just to bring it out a bit. Increased the volume on the hats and other percussion to bring them out more. Adjusted the levels on all the pads and other textures to bring the bass out. I've also added more effects to a couple of the pads and did some equalizing to cut and increase some frequencies I thought were too strong/weak.

I think it's getting pretty close. My next thing is really trying to work out that breakdown at 1:35. I haven't been getting any creative ideas for it so I've just been putting it off, but I think that's really the last thing I have left.
