Liverpool Students Dubstep Society, Anyone Interested?
First off I'm not entirely sure if this is a relevant post in the forums, I've read the rules and guidelines and it doesn't state about any rule breaking, if it does please remove this post.
Secondly this is specifically aimed at people living in Liverpool but more importantly people studying at John Moores (niche, I know considering this is a worldwide forum).
So lets get started.
Ok, I think it's time that JMU needs a Dubstep society and was wondering if anyone (coming or already at the university) is interested in setting one up with me?
Over the past year or so the interest in Dubstep has grown significantly, the sound is branching out and finding its own feet, local music events such as Chibuku and PlayDub proves that there is enough interest in Dubstep to have a society within the LSU (Liverpool Student Union)
However during my time at John Moores (2nd year) I've struggled to find people who share the same passion in this music as me and as a result, occasionally when I don't go solo'ing to events, I miss out on them because we all know it's no fun going out by yourself (all the time). At the end of the day I normally end up with the same typical student nights/clubs, overplaying the same tunes left, right and centre *sigh*.
So I've come up with an idea why not just set up a Dubstep society? I know for a fact I'm not the only person out of 24,000 students that's into Dubstep and by creating this society we can bring all the like-minded people togeather, organise nights out while having the occasional trip's to other Dubstep nights across the country, such as Dmz, Exodus, Hit and Run etc.
Message me back if you're interested.

Just go for it mate.
I would go if i went there, plus you got nothing to lose.
Manchester Met has a DnB society which can offer a couple of quid off most events (so if you get an incentive like that more people would sign up) Plus for promoters its great if they can get 10 people rather than 1.
Win Win Situation

Yeh I'm planning to speak to some promoters after I get a strong enough interest. In order for the society to work I need ten signitures, but this ain't the problem, as I could ask anyone to sign them.
Within the society you have too have a core group of people, say like 4-5 to hold the society together and this is the main obstacle I need to get past first, once I can establish if anyone is committed enough to help structure the society it's all gravey. I know Univeristy of Manchester have a dubstep society? and that's being run really well from what I can gather.
Thanks for the push man, I'll do my utmost to get this up and running

im glad u set this thread up, as I have a mate who is going to liverpool this september and he's noticed the (lack of regular) dubstep nites that are going on over there. I'm almost certain he'll would want to be a part of that society

Good luck with it mate, although in my previous experience I have seen plenty Drum n Bass/Dubstep societies be set up in the past and then fall by the wayside, I think that most students aren't really that bothered by a 'society' as such. If you want to keep up with everything that is going on then www.outlar.com is your friend, plus search for Liverpool Dubstep Community on Facebook. And as for going out on your own, just do it mate, I have done it a few times in the past and always had a belter night as it forces you to speak to people more than if you went with a couple of mates. I don't mean to disencourage you, good luck if you decide to do it

Yeh I've noticed the Liverpool Dubstep Community on Facebook but want something more intimate/community wise, hopefully my persistents will pay off. I Look forward to hearing your sets after summer

Hey dude, I go to JMU and I'd be really interested in helping you out, dubstep events when they are on in Liverpool do really well, for example Chibuku, playdub, eat your greens and the weekly dubstep nights at Magnet. I love dubstep and so do some of my friends so let me know if you need any help!
Just give me a personal message and you can email me if you are interested!
