i am proud to say

Post by iamallthings » Fri May 14, 2010 9:38 am

that after nearly two and a half years of obsessive immersion in dubstep

and after almost a year of solitary, generally excruciating "production" efforts

i have, as of tonight, attended my very first dubstep function.

mary ann hobbs, laid over in arizona, grounded by volcano, made my first attempt at healthy social interaction with the scene a memorable one, indeed.

that being said, i'll be in my cave for the forseeable future if anyone needs me. after all, absence does make the heart grow fonder, doesn't it?

if my intuition serves, i think the less direct influence to trending styles in production will result in my having something unique and hopefully valuable to offer in return for how much this sound has done for me.

thanks for listening.

So let me get this straight. Your going to sit in your room making tunes without going to any raves?

i did the rave scene from 16 years old as a runaway, until i made my way through drum'n'bass to its natural conclusion, when i was 24 or so.

my idea of a good time these days is cultivating my potential and applying my efforts toward creating something unique that is of value to the world.

her live show seemed more upbeat than the radio show, but that's elementary. there was a local mc running over her set, which i could have done without, but i'm not big on the idea of mc's in dubstep in general.

she did share a dubplate that i wish i would have caught the name of, because it was mental.

i brought a couple friends who were just learning of dubstep, and my wife who has only been exposed to it by osmosis since i'm constantly scouring for new stuff, and they all had a wicked time!

if she drops that plate tomorrow, do be so kind as to relay the name so i can keep an eye out for it.
