Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read something where Robert Henke said that Hi-Q mode just oversamples everything 2x.... main difference is frequency response at the high end (like above 5kHz). You can actually see the difference on the GUI curve on EQ8 when you've got anything going on above that kinda frequency. If that's true then it shouldn't make a difference on anything under like 5kHz or so.xxxy wrote:eq8 >right click>hi quality

UAD Cambridge is insanely versatile - and trustworthy for both cutting and boosting frequencies
However EQ8 is probably the best sounding native plug Ableton has to offer

Re: Best EQ because ableton's suck
i may be wrong, but it seems to me that you need a tool to clean up the very low end. here are a few freebies designed for this:
niveau filter by elysia - http://www.elysia.com/software/niveau-filter/
cleansweep by brainworx - http://www.brainworx-music.de/en/plugin ... answeep_v2
SubFilter II by the Rocksonics - http://www.rocksonics.com/FreePlugs.htm
Rubberfilter by Christian Budde - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2842.html
but if you need an eq that allows you to make such extreme cuts and boosts, i must recommend Electri-Q (posihfopit edition):
http://www.aixcoustic.com/index.php/pos ... tion/30/0/
it has a bunch of curves available, including butterworth and it sounds great.
anyway, note that if an eq is incapable of making extreme changes to a sound, it doesn't necessarily mean it sucks. these kind of eqs often sound more musical than the extreme ones. ;]

eq8 is great. EQ with your ears, not your eyes. doesn't matter if a filter is exactly 100hz, etc.

I think I fully understand the pupose of eq8 and not relying on spectrum analyzers but rather the ear. Much appreciated for everyone's contribution. Thank you very much

How you figure? We Bang wrote:Basic your nothing but a let down. Never have anything good to contribute when it comes to help.
I told you that adjusting the curve of your eq will help to eliminate the leftover frequencies that willbe left behind due to the EQ not wanting to fuck with phase? And then told you that if phase issues dont bother you in situation, use a filter...
A few people repeated that and you thanked them.

The way you initially respond. Sounds like you try and make people sound like idiots. Cheers I probably took it wrong

seen his b4 - its suspect - where are the audio referencesSubside wrote:There all the same

eq plugs are definitely not all the same - just use your ears
sure you can add saturation effects etc in the signal chain of stock plug eqs to emulate hi end emulation eqs
but the point of the hardware emulations etc is so that you dont have to

plus some are way more efficient coding and use less resources, cleaner interfaces etc
