I didn't say you were required to do the handgun thing. As someone who is crap at all conventional dancing one of the many great things about dubstep and the bass scenes in general is that you can do whatever feels good and not worry about getting judged including the Dj surely? Lookin at any DJ playin and moving to the beats makes it far more enjoyable. The fact that they are enjoying themselves is great. I would much rather that than a DJ who just mechanically plays a set.
On the flipside i do think it is very annoyin when a DJ seems to be putting on their 'moves' because they feel they have to

thats the exact feeling i was getting out of this thread.

i def feel you about the not being able to dance...also dances moves in general creep me out...

when i started out dj'ing i used to jump around and yell a lot but at this point ive realized that what really gets a crowd hype is the actual mixing and selection.

Yeah I get you. Definitely would never swap selection and/or mixing for an enthusiastic dj. As someone who is not actually a DJ I would think that doing whatever came natural to the DJ would be best as he/ she would then be most relaxed and perform better? Might be completely off on that though.
