Only just noted the replies on this thread

At Mr Thetwig - Yeah got it all sorted now...i was running two outs from my mac, one from the firewire and one from the computer itself and it didnt like it noise wise one bit - so now am simply using the firewire - problem solved - interesting read about the ground loops tho - thanks for that.

cogent & dlted - Thanks for the info - have just moved to london today so will endeavour to check out some courses and upgrade my ass to Logic 7 - if i have any probs i know who to pm :D

I think you're right about the 3 day intensive thing - it deffo works better as you take it in more as you are doing it every day - if you are doing night classes or a saturday course you dont retain as much....

Thanks for your help.

i've got very experimental setup, consisting mostly freeware dsp, huge load of processed samples from various sources, several different sequencers (mostly using FL5) etc. thought about moving my setup to run under debian sarge with 2.6 kernel but it was just beyond my skills; linux as a virtual studio =

i'm running all the stuff is a custom 2.0 ghz amd duron with several modifications. the soundcard i'm using is terratec ewx 96/24, a bit limited but the sound quality is good and serves my purposes better than anything. using jbl control 5's as main monitors.

not much hardware, except my trusty korg microkontrol. looking to buy novation nova soon.

Cool thread, its nice to know how other people are getting their sounds.

Im using...

AMD computer, 1.6Ghz with 1G of RAM
Running Sonar4 and soundforge
M-audio Delta 1010 soundcard
Waldorf Pulse (very cool)
Novation Super bass station (possibly even cooler)
Yamaha a4000 (maxed out ram and a zip drive for backing up)
joe meek threeQ vocal preamp and a couple of battered Rode NNT1 mics
QSC poweramp (fucking heavy but love it)
Behringer truth passive speakers (about 300w each, and despite what some may say i reckon they do alrite)
Silence is more audible than sound
