If a tune is on an album, I think it's fair to evaluate it in terms of home listening AS WELL as on a big system though.

That said I love the tune (and would love to play it out on a big system). Guido's Synthetic Orchestra work really well for him, particularly those bombastic bass hits.

I mean, you could put a big sub under a Freshly Ground track and play that on a big system, but that wouldn't away the fact that you sampled Freshly Ground
Sorry think i read the OP wrong! Completely my bad!

Read "the track underneath the sax is passable" as "the track underneath I would pass on" as in not listen too, where as re-reading it probably means is ok.

No cheese on 'Mad Sax' at all, gents. I can see how you'd mistaken a track that smells like cut cheese for a track that is THE shit.

it has a certain sheen to it that some would consider a little cheesy, i love the shit out of the tune personally

cheesy is a really subjective term, but all in all i think it's great to have some songs that could be considered to be cute or cheesy or cheeky, especially in a style as dark as dubstep can get

I had Guido down to play at my night in Nottingham last monday and was talking to him about the album and 'Mad Sax' in particular, and he said that he made the tune like 3 years ago and its not a sample at all, its just reason sounds, nothing complicated. He's the most talented producer out of the purple three and one of the soundest blokes i've met in the business. Simple unadulterated sexy saxy cheese-step

there are people not feeling this song? i adore it. the saxes don't really sound like a sample, maybe that's why it's "cheesy" sounding? i think it has an obviously programmed effect. awesome track.
