There’s been much buzz surrounding this second release from Headhunter’s seminal Transistor imprint. Following the tremendous success of the first release (“Night Dive”), there are some high expectations, and this record delivers! “Give” is a heady tune that combines gorgeous atmospheric techno with a dark dubstep underpinning. Beautiful chant-like vocals mingle with sinister, but subdued basslines, snare stabs, and a driving 4/4 beat. “Venus Project” shifts the territory into a more active direction with spacious broken 2-step beats, snarling bass, and haunting vocal samples – but a deep and subtle structure carries through.
