No offence to The Den, but if Rinse/FWD can sell 2,600 tickets they will be better off going to a venue like Fabric or The Coronet.

But if they go to The Coronet, then any DJ's who play there will never be able to play at Fabric - ever, apparently.
How come? Rivalry?

protectionism, just to make sure that they get the exclusives.

Kinda whistleblowing here, but that's the deal, not sure forever, but it's ultimately down to the artist to decide between a venue.

If both clubs approached me, I'd choose Fabric, not because they'd pay more (probably less due to ties and friendships between promoters/dubpolice/rinse/fwd etc) than The Coronet, but theres something about the quality of the night and how genuine the music will be that I think The Coronet will never be able to deliver...

Depends, if you're doing music full time and it's putting food in your fridge - you'd pick the one that's more reliable and more likely to book you.

If Fabric book me for 4 nights a year and I only got to play at The Coronet once for the Outlook Launch, Fabric definitely.

Even though the 02 is a 20 minute bus ride from my nearest bus stop (like 5 minute walk), I admit it was a shite place for a venue and even for me, a bastard to get back from in the wee hours of the morning.

its also worth baring in mind that this happens in lots of other places and clubs.

Roflrilla. you're talking shite pal. not sure where you're getting your "nuggets" of wisdom from, but you're factually well wide of the mark.

I think not if it's coming pretty direct.

Plastician was booked to play FWD+Rinse last month, but his set was cancelled by Matter because he played Coronet for the Outlook launch. Think he got a 3 month boycott. Roska was offered a set at the same night (Outlook) but declined because Fabric/Matter threatened him with a lifetime boycott. Similar story with Oneman aswell. This was all discussed openly on their Twitters so it ain't word of mouth/hearsay bullshit.

Riiiight... So if an upcoming artist booked at that FWD/Rinse ended up doing his set at the Coronet, and blew up to be a massive part of the scene, pulling in crowds like (for example) Chase and Status, Fabric would NEVER book them? :|
