Ok, so i'm new to Dubstep can anyone answer my Q's?
Ok, ive recently become very fond of dubstep
my first question is...
i am looking for tunes like Sweet Shop - Doctor P & Eastern Jam - Chase & Status
can anyone name any other artists that make that style?
2) what do the religious dubstep fans think of grime mc's jumping on dubstep?
3) would you say dubstep is a genre or a culture like grime is?
4) where can i hit up at event int he north west of england
5) finally, has there ever been such thing as a dubstep mc? or are they the natural evolution from grime?
thanks for your help

For alot of people its not just about listenin to a song on youtube etc.. & thats fine. Its about goin out & experiencing it live. Which is where soundsystems come in and peoples love for the sound (bass) Which then leads to the never ending battle on vinyl Vs Digital.hookedonsonics wrote:then please dospydee wrote:id argue that dubstep is a culture tbh.
I agree Dubstep is a culture. Its not somthing I personally have just picked up for a little while its somthing I'v really gotten into looked around found what Iv liked taken up mixin/Havin a go at production & learned lots from being into.

2) Wouldn't call myself religious, passionate maybe. Besides, if an MC has something to add let them. It can only ever be good or bad.
3) I would argue that most music scenes carry some sort of culture with them. Personally i feel a large community vibe with dubstep, going to gigs, this forum etc all add to the 'experience' so to speak that i get directly from dubstep.
4) Try the events section i guess.
5) Don't know of any MC's solely dedicated to dubstep, Spaceape, Sgt Pokes and Crazy D deserve a mention though.

4 or 5 years ago, I was ranting about some dubstep, and one day someone asked me the best way to describe it.
I fell silent.
I sat back in my seat. I said "Dubstep..."
I took a toke on my Blueberry rizla rolled cigarette.
I continued,
"...Dubstep is a way of life."

Check out the whole of the Circus Records crew, but don't just limit your taste to the MOS Dubstep CD. If you want to really explore dubstep look at the 'real' classed dubstep artists. I've been into dubstep a few years now and began listening to Pinch, Youngsta, Horsepower Productions, Caspa and now this new era of 'filth' really does it for me.
Grime MC's on dubstep sometimes does have its advantages, especially when they know a track and when it's dropping. Though sometimes it can be annoying when you just wanna hear the sub bass and not the vocals coming out a sound rig.
Dubstep itself is a genre, but to the people who listen to it day in day out, been involved and love it for what it is, to me personally I'd say it was a culture.
Check up on Facebook for events in your area.
I don't really know much about the MC's within dubstep and their origins; but it would appear that most would have came from the grime area. Rod Azlan who partners with Caspa and MC Beezy amongst others I would say are perhaps 'dubstep MC's', but a lot of grime MC's are jumping on dubstep tracks which is great; as grime and dubstep have similarities.

2) I personally love it when the grime MCs jump on a dubstep beat, although it has to be said that there is a time and a place: you don't want Tempz hyping all over Horror Show or something
4) Manchester: Hit & Run (despite the venue move) is a must, Bass Camp is always big, Format's a good shout too. For the filthier side of things look for nights like Just Skank, Oh My Dub and Cataclysm.
