I've been listening since I was about 14/15, so only for 3 years or so, but I delved back into the tunes that were around in 03 etc, and I dig their sound, and search out more stuff like them. Sadly not a lot of people my age do that, and prefer to listen to the Mt Eden and borgore shit :u: .

What really got my back up though is how people would randomly come into school one day and go 'OMG GUYZ I JUST DISCOVERED A BADASS NEW GENRE CALLED DUBSTEP, CHECK OUT THIS MT EDEN GUY HE'S BIG, MMMM COOOKIE MONSTAAA', and I was sitting there with an iPod full of Hatcha, Synkro, DMZ, Coki etc, having known about the genre for a couple of years, and digging the darker, melodic, bass driven sound. Was interesting how when I discovered it no one wanted to know, but suddenly everyone was jumping on the bandwagon.
In the same position as you man, although I do like the 'filthy' dubstep just as much as I do the roots stuff. Both have different effects on me, which is what music is supposed to do - variation and alternation. I'm 18, been listening to dubstep for a good two years, however it was not as much. Since turning 18 I've been going to as many gigs as I can; going to OUTLOOK this year so my love for it is kind of devout.

19... first dubstep tune i heard was Never Scared by 6Blocc... I've progressed to the dark hald step kind of stuff Youngsta plays and also the futuristic side of things like TRG

sausagestep is the new grunge. bare teenage angst goin round....

I dont dislike them because their coming to nights I go to or because their young. If its what they actually like then who am I or anyone else to tell them otherwise? Just wish they would understand that nights like fwd and dmz are more listening party's than they are 'raves' to get off your tits at.

Lol, you can actually make a pretty good age chart at parties these days

up front near the DJ's :

The closer up front, the younger the audience get's. I'm usually all the way in the back, more personal space and skanking space if the occasion allows it. Also, a lot of people just minding their own business out in the back, plus less chances of ear damage. And usually closer to the bar too.

I like being old(er).

It so amazing innit.

When I was 14, there weren't any forums. I mean, sure the mixtape area was almost over by the time I got into music , then came the cd's and the interwebz followed. I'm glad I still lived through most of that era. It's all so easy now (with its advantages of course), still it had its charmss.

17, got into it through drum and bass about 2/3 years ago, started listening to things like skream, benga, rusko... went through the datsik and excision phase... then went to my first night, came through into the silkie, el-b, horsepower, headhunter, deeper skream and benga, digital mystikz, loefah, ramadanman, mount kimbie, james blake, distance, scuba, burial, 2562 etc.
am kind of embarrassed by most other people my age, especially when you go to horrible underage nights... so god bless borrowing IDs for FWD ha

This is pretty much the same as me. Apart from I'm not quite 17 yet. And I didn't have a Datsik and Excision phase.

I got pretty bored tbh. It was far far too samey with a lot of songs getting repeatedly dropped.I thought Doctor P and flux were the best but then i dont like cookie monster or funtcases tunes really. The trouble with all of those lot is that pretty much all their tunes sound the same. I think they each just have one formula which they stick to, especially cookie monsta with that horrible midbass noise he always uses.
repeat drops throughout the nite = fail.
i mite check the next event tho, looks like theres a bit more variety on the bill :D
