Hi, im New to the forum..

Post by a5hl3y2k6 » Mon May 24, 2010 10:20 pm

firstly sorry if i posted in the wrong section. i did have a look for a introduction thread/section but i couldnt find one and as im looking to produce dubstep i thought id post here, sorry if it upsets anyone.

Hi all, ive been registered a few weeks now but have been snooping around behind the scene picking up tips from all over, so thank you firstly. i have no music experience but a few weeks ago i took the plunge and purchased logic 9, massive and a bit of hardware midi keyboard etc. as i am really keen to get into this, ive made a few small clips which are quiet basic for you to listen to if you wish http://www.zshare.net/audio/764729740c9ec37b/ its very basic and you logic users will probably spot the ghost town preset drums! lol but im still a bigggg newb!! i was going to use sound cloud but email is down so could not activate the account. Anyways just thought id finally say hi and let you guys know ill be around from now. and hope to upload some better quality tracks soon. I am currently struggling to with my creativity and my sounds seem dull and very repetitive! if anyone has any advice that would also be great. thanks again for the information on the forum it has and will continue to help me a lot!

thanks all! - comments on my crappy little track would also be good! lol

cheers!

Hi!
well done for taking the plunge. we all get better slowly, just remember that, don't get frustrated because you can't make teh mega wobs right away (or whatever sounds you're into).
Lots of stuff on here will help, just hang around, read the sticky threads and browse the old ones.
and persevere.

This is a great place to start. I don't think I've been here even a month and I've obtained a slew of knowledge that my brain is still trying to process. Before I came here I couldn't make anything that was even slightly coherent and I feel now at least I'm going in the right direction. A lot of people here know what they are talking about. Search and stickies are your friend.

Thank you all for offering me so much help! -

The basslines is my own, the whirly sounds are from a sound pack and i added a bit or reverb etc, and the drum loop is a Logic Preset!! - The shame  lol im still practising as you can tell.

i made another little clip i kinda like the sound of today so im going to try and build on it - again realllly! basic and is also very repertitve but i really like the sound...

Thats where you start bro - hell im still writing basic repetitive shit and ive been at the game for 9 months or so now!! just practise practise practise and keep reading and learning - one thing Id advise more than anything, apart from learning your DAW inside out (and I do envy you that youre starting on logic - im stuck on a shitty laptop with ableton and only free VSTs), is to learn some basic music theory - thats one thing im shit hot on so will be more than happy to help if you have questions!!
