It probably did once upon a time not anymore though - if you can only export 16bit audio then its probably your soundcard.

Soundcards got nothing to do with render bit depth.

Hmm, funny that considering I can only export 16bit on my onboard but up to 32 on my PCI-E.

You need to get to the bottom of that then, fruity can render 32 bit when you are using an 8 bit sound card.

i used to use fl6 and it supported 32 bit. although you couldnt export at 24 for some odd reason.

see that's what I thought but this person was hell bent that it was only 16bit (he uses 9) and I was positive it depended on your soundcard/audio interface

The only thing in fl tht is restricted to soundcard processing power is the live monitoring that occurs while you work. All exports are done purely on cpu and all vsts are hosted on ram, and thier output values are calculated in your processor, the soundcard is needed to render them back for oyu to hear, but nothing more, thus is its function on a PC. From there upgrades come for added funtionality, and more importantly, quality of live audio stream... make sense?

FL supports the whole 9 yards on export, including alot of less then standard formats other daws would neglect (.flac, .ogg. for gods sake ableton ONLY does wavs right?)

So are you saying it's live feedback is 16bit? I have my audio interface set to 24 bit so wouldn't that mean my live feedback is 24 bit?

Nah Im saying your live monitoring is the only thing processed by your soundcard vs. renders which are done through cpu.

So, if you soundcard supports 24bit live playback, and your asio settings are properly configured, you should be at 24bit float on playback.
