Kind of sickens me that all the people my age are into borgore, flux pavilion and shit. Bit ignorant on their behalf really. I'm probably one of the few people in my town who actually appreciates 'proper' dubstep so nights out, and the fact that i've been 18 for 8 months now have been scarce.

In the interests of being diplomatic I wouldn't call it ignorant or 'proper' - just different tastes.

Recently been freaked out by the volumes and sounds coming from speakers when I am out. Shitting myself about losing my hearing. Left ear is worse that the right from monitors already.

something that always massively worries me. i've had ringing in my ears up to 5 days after a night out. went to see mala, chef and hijak in manchester in december on a 30K rig in a pretty small venue and i couldn't hear my phone ringing on the table next to my bed the next day. quite want to buy some proper ear plugs because those ones they give out in clubs don't cut it.

i got these, 15 quid and they do the job

but if you want something abit more fitted and professional you have to look at custom ones which are quite expensive, around 150 quid i think.

I'm twenty

got into dubstep when I was 15

Had to wait three years to get to go see all the djs I wanted to.

My brother's just started listening to dubstep in the last year and he's now 16. Difference is is that I started spending time down my local record store buying shit from Vex'd, Pinch, Distance and Coki when it came along and he just listens to "brostep" wank on youtube.

Elements of dubstep is attracting the younger ages and so promoters have tried to tap into the under 18 market. The only thing they really want to hear is the more 'filth' factor of dubstep with artists like Borgore, Tomba, Cookie Monsta providing that sound. They are intouch with who is making 'moves' on the scene most probably because of youtube. I would love to see the reactions of the kids if nights such as UTR got acts like Kryptic Elements, Untold or James Blake...

*Kryptic Minds (was thinking about two different artists)

Yeah ofcourse I was generalizing quite abit however youtube has become a large source of where people can hear 'new' music and find out new artists for some who might not want to go to the record shop can do so. 'Filth' has become a sound that mostly the younger people will be listening to. From the people I have met and especially the nights I DJ at, its the younger crowd who are asking for Jakwob, Rusko, Nero etc compared with the older lot who they would much prefer to be hearing tracks off Hessle Audio, Deep Medi - obviously im generalising ALOT!

I'm 16 and I've been enjoying dubstep for about 2 1/2 years. I started getting into it because I enjoyed the music, but now I just see people getting into it so that they can rave and brag about listening to dubstep. I spend countless hours on soundcloud finding out what exactly is the sound for me. It's sad how so many teenagers have an uneducated taste in music, they think dubstep strictly consists of Datsik, Borgore, Rusko, and Caspa. I think it sometimes leads the genre in the wrong direction because producers are wanting to make music to please younger kids and remix mainstream songs.

I just felt like posting this because I'm in class right now and a kid was just listening to "Emalkay - When I Look At You" loudly on the computer speakers so everyone can hear it, thinking its the shit, while I was enjoying dubstep with my earbuds so nobody steals my tunes. haha
