So, you've been playing drums for about a year then?particle-jim wrote:yes it is my opinion, but considering i've been playing drums since i was 8 years old and that i used to be in a metal band, i think my opinion on metal drummers holds somewhat more gravitasJFK wrote:Yeah, well, thats just like.... your opinion man.particle-jim wrote:thats why i specified metal drummers, if i was doing drummers across all genres it would take me years and most of my choices would probs b controversialstappard wrote:Best-drummer rankings are always difficult though because the style varies so much across genres.
mainly tho i just wanted to point out that joey jordison doesnt even come close to being in the top 5

Re: RIP Paul Gray
Metal drummers are generally very good technically but in my opinion Jazz drummers are generally the best, technically and creatively.

I used to love Slipknot, and their self-titled album is still awesome tbh.

not really - you're being subjective by describing my opinion as self righteous and absolutist. had you just said 'that's your opinion' (objective), then the rome thing may play out but instead you're just being blindly hypocritical.
Re: RIP Paul Gray
When all you can bring to the conversation is "go back to playing wow," it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm 24, been listening to metal since i was 8 and started playing guitar a year later. Rnbc says that jazz drummers are the best which is a valid opinion. Many of the best drummers go back and forth between jazz and technical death metal bands. But for someone to think Joey Jordison is one of the best? Cmon. You might LIKE him more, but that doesn't make him better at drumming. Seriously, go listen to something like Cynic, Origin, Obscura, Necrophagist or Brain Drill. That should really speak for itself.
