question about torq vs. serato

hey there,
so im a n00b and have only been mixing for a few months but have it all on lock now and am looking at investing in either
serato or torq, because it would just be so much more convinient than searching through cds in a dark room.

for cd decks i have stanton C.324s, and theyre pretty sweet
i use the effects on the decks to blend some smoother mixes, and make wobbles on just about any track which i love!
but ive heard that with serato, these will be unusable for some reason.
ive heard alot of good things about torq and its also a bit cheaper,
and i was wondering if there is the same problem with torq.
so will tork let me use these effects built onjto my cd decks? or will it bitch out like serato?

Torq and Serato only use your CDJs as timecodes. IE, no audio will be coming from the CD decks at all. Therefore your audio effects on your CDJs will never work with a laptop based MP3 DJ setup.

Torq comes with its own set of effects, which you will need a MIDI controller to operate, unless you want to click on them with your mouse on-screen.

Serato doesn't have any built in effects, but you can buy hardware effects (like a chaos pad, etc).

You're going from an Analog to a Digital DJ system. It's apples and oranges really.

I was thinking as I was reading about how silly it is to have effects on the decks themselves but I remember my first cd player had em, still pretty silly imo. Yeah you can't use those with any of the vinyl control systems. Torq has built in effects amd it gives you the ability to use vst effect as well. You can get any type effect you want with that instead. You would probably want some type of midi controller tho. Not sure what the deal is with Serato's effects but I would imagine by now it has that capability too, I am sure someone else will chime in with that info.

if you want decent efx you should buy traktor because their efx are 10000000 times better and more advanced than any other competitor

If torq gives you vst effects... you can't say that traktor's are the best.

Absolutely not true... the new version of serato (which is free) has soooo many effects that work very well and sound stupidly good. It might be a good idea to get a basic knob-based midi-controller to use them expressively though...
