60k Valentines Massacre last night

Post by kion » Sat Feb 17, 2007 1:29 pm

My head hurts. Out to the patronising front-room engineer

"R E D L I G H T I S B A D!"

Really? I thought my purpose was to light up as many as possible, for the longest time possible - where's my free teddy?

Thanks Dom for the earplugs - much needed! SLT Mob and N-Type punished the head to head systems proper!

Sound men have tendency to be over protective. I reckon you should have punched him.

soundmen have every right to be overprotective.

red light on the mixer = bad dj.

there's alot of time and money invested into that stuff, probally more than youve spent on automobiles in your lifetime. would you let some random guy you knew take your porche around for a spin and tell them "hey, drive as fast as you like, i dont care if you crash it"?

there's too much money, time and work involved in setting up a sound and letting some punks from a newly formed genre hellbent on blowing your subs up in the first place to...well, to let blowup your subs

honestly, if yo dont like the soundman, find another soundsystem. however, im sure youll find that any guy who runs a sound gets pissed when the mixer goes into the red. distortion sucks and clipping can cause drivers to blow, sometimes even catch on fire.

it's not easy to replace drivers and it's not cheap. the speakers themselves can range from anywhere from 80 to 350 quid a pop. thats just the speaker itself, not the cabinet it is held in.

lol, well the system was sounding quite nice actually. I didn't say I didn't like the soundman - where did that come from?! I just thought it was funny the way he talked to me like an imbecile. It was a new system, and if you wanna use the porche analogy, imagine being ordered to take your shoes off before you get in the motor, and then having to sit on plastic bubblewrap 8)

Back to the main room clash - dunno who won!

We won, we won, we won!!!!!! HOORAH!

Did leave it abit late till the voting was done, and I ended up getting up on the mic (first time in my life..), utterly twatted, calling the crowd a bunch of stnuc and got people to sidle up next to the rig that they prefered.... Seemed to work ok though, and definately got more people by our rig.

@ Kion.. Who was the soundman you're talking about? Someone from Brighton Noise rather than me I take it?

Slaughter mob were amazing, first 15 mins Dan played was proper old school dubby/reggae flavoured stuff and sounded wicked! Missed the rest of the set running about trying to keep people happy, and stumbling about being a twat!

Don't think I've ever heard sound quite as loud as it was in there... The walls of speakers we had were HUGE, and at points the sub was so loud that I had real problems seeing properly!

Hope everyone who came had a goodun, we'll be doing it again in about 8 weeks.

Lawrence
