Loving the last two updates. It's now looking like a real nice peice of kit! Although i understand nothing of Kong, i have only ever used R4 and experiemented with a couple of other DAW's; i don't understand drum synths and all that jazz. (Yes, i have watched the video)

What exactly does it do? Make drum sounds? Edit samples? Sequence like ReDrum? I don't get it really. (looks sick though haha)

Nice.

Could you tell us more about the new Combinator features? (with screenshots if you're feeling really fruity)

Is it possible to set the combinator buttons to 'trigger' mode, whereby the button only stays on whilst held down.

And can each of the rotaries now also be polar as well as bipolar?

What is the new reverb and dub delay like on Kong?
ok i'm gonna check out the combinator features now.

from what i recall the dub delay is nice. it's kind of like an old school echo. like the echo in the rv7000. only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a sync feature. i haven't played much with the reverb yet though. one effect module i like in kong is the filter. it sounds really nice to my ears.

and kong features "analog" synthesis, physical modelling and sampling.

kong is basically a drum machine. there are 16 pads. in each pad you can choose between 4 analog synth, 3 physical modelling, a mini nnxt (sampler) or a mini dr. rex player. there are also noise and tone generators.

you can make drum sounds with the "analog" or physical modelling drum synths and you can use samples or rex files in the samplers. you can edit drum samples in the mini-nnxt drum sampler. a good thing is you can now resample a drum hit from the analog kick drum into the nnxt if you want. there are also 9 fx modules (comp, filter, overdrive, eq, rattler, ring mod, reverb, echo, transient shaper).

there is no inbuilt sequencer like the redrum but you can obviously hook up a redrum to kong for xox style step sequencing. or you can just go into blocks mode and step sequence from there.

in the combi pics you can see the extra cv inputs as well as the ability for bipolar and unipolar. i don't think there is a trigger mode but i haven't played much with the combi yet. i've just been messing with kong resampling drum hits.

No, I'm still boycotting Propellerhead Software.

I don't like the fact they don't listen to user feature requests.

And they have a lock on the Rex format, but are not doing anyone any favours by keeping Recycle as the only tool that can create Rexs.

Anyone who has used Adobe Audition or other real audio editors knows Recycle is actually outdated and shit.

So no money for Props then. Hopefully consumer action will force them to be more proactive! 8)

I have mixed feelings towards the props, but you have to admit they make the most solid software out there. I wouldent say they don't listen to their users, they just don't talk to them and let them know whats in the works. But slowly but surely the user requests are making there way in, it just takes 20 times longer than most companys. I would rather have Reason the way it is in that respect compared to Ableton where they try and fit as many user requests in a short time and and up releasing buggy problematic software.

At the end of the day I put years into learning Reason and I have a hard time learning other DAWs. Whateves. I'm happy where Reason and Record are at now.

Nearly without fail in my experience Prophellerheads/Reason stuff is solid in the way it works perfect, maybe lacking in substance in terms of functions but i have never ever had any sort of problems with the program.

Sooooo excited for this!

Can anyone beta testing tell me how long you get to test it for. I'm waiting for my key and know every new beta they ask more people but does that then mean the old beta expires and so you no longer get to play with it until release?
