DMZ LEEDS/EXODUS...the aftershock

Post by .rudetone. » Sun Feb 18, 2007 12:32 pm

Ha ha, looks like i'm the first person to surface and get to a computer after last night... still feeling mentally and physically exhausted.

Youngsta and N-Type were definately the highlights for me...both totally and utterly smashed it in every sense of the word....youngsta was mental esp. when he juggled the 2 copies of crunked up-pure genius! and fuckin hell...N-Type what did you do?! That set was INTENSE! and ha ha..out to the sounds of the slipmat aswell! and what was that tune with the 'people kill people' Buju Banton lyrics-'EAVY!..anyone know? AND the last tune N-Type played was wicked aswell...in fact every single tune i heard last night sent me wild!
Soooooo many brilliant new tunes rinsed by Mala aswell..large up DMZ gang....and where was Loefah????????.

In short...was an absolute blinder!

You lot let me know what ya thought when ya finally get out of bed/gutter/hedge/floor etc..wherever the hell you ended up afterwards!!

Big up all the djs, skankers, ravers and of course Mark Iration!!

bring on the next one!!

BLESSSSIIIIINNNNNSSSSS!!!!!!!!! :T: :T: :T: :T: :T: :T:

That was wicked, can't remember the last time I enjoyed a big dubstep night as much. :) Was really, really feeling the lineup this time - serious deepness for most of it. Got there just after ten for Cyrus and by half past the room was already filling up! Great to hear and see people bobbing around to Random Trio stuff on the Iration System (which was sounding really crisp last night). Ditto Pinch...a lot of the tracks he was playing was a different strand of dubstep completely, very techno influenced. Brilliant stuff, pushing things forward.

Loved the fact that Youngsta was given a prominant slot this time too, such a sick DJ...got the crowd completely hyped. Mala was Mala as always...I don't think people can touch him in terms of that combination of energy and deepness his tracks and sets have. Was feeling the newer bits getting an airing too.

People were going nuts to N-Type - rave up! I think I might have taken a break at this point but there was bare energy in the place. Went and stood next to the back speaker rig for Distance and got pummeled by the bass weight - his tunes are seriously weighty, had to move after a while as it was physically too much  (and thank christ for my earplugs). Heny G played a great set to end the night, and played some big tracks that weren't spun earlier on. Large. And seeing all the dubstep crew dancing to Hard Food at the end when the lights were on brought a smile to my face.

The whole evening flowed really well...not often that happens over seven hours. Large up all the neccessary people, DJs, Simon Scott, people who were there, Poax with the Buckfast :)

Oh, and if people have any pictures, stick 'em up here!

Big night. Was feeling Pinch and Mala, proper deepness. All night I couldn't help but think back to a year ago, when we were all stuck in that back room at Transmission, and often there weren't that many ppl in there. And big up anyone who remembers Mala playing the back room of Sub Dub in November 2005. How far Leeds has come. Big up Si Scott for making it happen.

And if any Leeds heads want some more bass weight, come down to Subculture tomorrow night for Ruffage. Gonna be large

Really good night, once again found myself standing right infront of the P.A getting a battering of sound. Every Dj was different and really felt the uniqueness coming out of every individuals set, big question on my lips what was the last track played by Mala that was seriously deep?

Only down side was the cloak room que got really stupid one minute i was at the front about to get my coat next they put the lights on and i get rushed by 30 people sneaking round the sides took the piss ended up waiting till the end cause i got so fed up with being crushed.

Still in Gran Canaria now, just jumped on a pc quickly. Wish I'd got to this, glad to hear it was a banger (although I dont see how it could have been anything else)

Heavy :D

Best moment of the night - seeing mala, quest, silkie, heny, iration steppas, crazy d and all the "dubstep family" bopping up and down with huge grins on their faces for Hard Food at the end, then seeing mark iration (I think?) rewind it about five seconds from the end and doing it all over again :D

Amazing sense of positivity inside the room as well, great stuff. Cyrus smacked it with his own productions, was already sounding loud by that point. Pinch just did his thing - so much I hadn't heard before. Hearing the Peveralist release on Iration was a treat as well :D Youngsta was just a complete professional. Absolutely incredible DJ. Really inspiring stuff to watch :D Mala played a great set full of stuff I hadn't heard before. Was a shame not to have Loefah in the room but we still got to hear a few of his beats so not complaining. N-Type - pure energy, the crowd responded accordingly. Ridiculously hype set. Distance was deep as hell, 'Weigh Down' was the highlight of the set for me. That tune has deceptively massive amounts of bass. Heny G - sick. Absolutely sick, had barely heard any of the tunes in the set. Tight mixing too as always.

Met quite a few people but didn't really get to chat, always the way.. hi to all :)

It truly was an aftershock. After SquareRoots in Brighton on Thursday, SoundClash Brighton on Friday and Exodus Leeds on Sat I am totally bassed out :?

Thanks Leeds SubDub. It was massive. By the time Distance came on at 3 and killed it for an hour i was done. I'm gonna need training for the 10 hour DMZ 2nd Birthday extravangana! :o

Out to Deapoh, Josephine, Silkie, Quest, Bert, KidCaZual, Jamella and Shockwell for making the DMZ fun bus a great trip all round. Shame you couldn't make it Boom, Deci and Markle. You're all welcome for DubPressure at the Volks this coming Friday in Brighton. We'll all be there representing.

Thanks to Luke of Yorkshire (Green Party councillor for Leeds somewhere) for coming to the West Indian centre and cooking us a great breckie in the morning (Vote Green you Leedsonians!)

Streamizm Tue, Redstar Thu and Dubpressure Fri - the cycle never ends... :D

Vote Goat Curry

ok i'm awake now lol..

1st up... big up leeds. made to feel totally welcome. taxi driver from coach station to west indian centre drove like a boy racer and blasted out trance top volume. large up his boat. also very friendly security lot at west indian... altho i always find security peoples at dubstep nights friendly. and very easy going locals inside... completely allowing grand to push them out of the way rudely  too aggy sometimes grand.

2nd... loud. oh god loud. first time i've used earplugs and i did it cos i was scared lol. some mental b-lines just at human body reverberation frequency :o

3rdlyish... big sets from all. speciarly n-type for me. but wtf with lights on at 4:30? I WAS TRYIN TO SLEEP IN A CORNER, DAMN IT... AND THE BLARING LIGHTS COME ON. and heny only got half hour? UH, UH? not cool. city of leeds, yorkshire owes heny g 30 minutes of decks and iration system

fantabulous to meet josephine for the first time. big ups grandal and his grumbling, deapoh, ironslag, n-type, heny, farrah + zahra (sorry, u come as one entity lol), ramadan manaman, distinction... sorry i didn't get to meet u despite standing right next time at some points! all others in and around deckstickles.

not big up cab drivers chargin double back to coach station in the morning. not big and/or clever

However, gutted as I am, at least I was fresh for the B-I-G Jah Shaka dance last night @ Dingwalls...

Big up everyone who went, I'm jealous, thanks for the descriptions just to rub the salt in my wounds. Roll on the next one.

@ Delendi - ear plugs was a smart move, that system broke my left ear once!
