Bar9 - Kinda like Marmite?

Post by elex » Sat May 29, 2010 9:03 am

I have to admit I am not a fan, never have been. However, I was at a rave in Manchester recently with Bar9 and they absolutely killed it?! Even I was happily dancing away!
However I have spoken to a few people since who cant stand em. Are Bar9 the Marmite of Dubstep?
- here is the video of them live, good video made by the people who run the night

Yep, Bar 9 are like Datsik to me. You heard one, you heard 'em all.

Dunno why so many people on here hate on dancefloor party tunes.

I like em, but not my faves or anything.

As far as jump up goes, I rate Bar 9 much higher than a lot of other producers out there.

I dont hate on any music

I just think that Bar 9 have one noise which they use in every single tune and once you've heard one you have heard them all

ye they do, but they definately use it much better then a lot of others who rinse the same sound. they have a decent production technique although they really do need to try and innovate and refresh a bit because they are straining it a bit now.

i admit that their tunes do get a bit samey but i think they have a bit of potential, and i agree with whoever said that they are one of the better producers when it comes to jump up.

'Dubstep rave in female attendance shocker!'

As you see in the video the music they play is fairly girl friendly.

It is. Certainly when most dubstep disco groove downs I've been to are 90 % men. And I like it. 8)

And as far as Bar9 go, I'm think I don't hate them, it's just when I see a new release by them, I don't expect anything special and that for sure they'll be using the same bass noise and the plodding drum pattern. But like Datsik, excision, borgore etc.. when I first heard it. I died. Everywhere. Twice. Now it's so very boring snoring

My thing is not that I dislike Jump up - I dont, I just dont like their sound, it is always the same, and always boring!

So no fans have come out of the woodwork - that is interesting, I thought some people bummed them!

I used to DJ jump up for years until I realised it was boring and all the same.
Respect to Bar9, just not my cuppa.

Don't get me wrong i like a bit of filthyness here and there as much as the next guy but if i wanna wave my arms around the air, jump up and down all night i'll go to a fucking electro disco whatever the fuck rave. I go to a dub gig to rock out, get my skank on and listen to the MUSIC. Know what i mean.

Bar9 are sick!

Original players when it comes to the filthy side - you gotta remember attack of the killer bass freaks was such an original sound when released.

Their deeper tunes are where its at imo tho

They are ok...nothing amazing. theyre new remix of Example's 'Kickstarts' lacks a good drop and sounds just like theyre other songs really. The only tune Ive actually liked is 'The Beginning'

bar 9 have one of the better sounds out of all the jump up producers imo.

i wouldnt class them with borgore, excision and datsik.
