synthesizer shopping, what do you recommend?

Post by partition » Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:08 pm

Hi, I've been increasingly in need of some new equipment for my 'studio' and am interested in purchasing a hardware synth but have no idea where to start.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, thanks.

my 'studio' consists of a mac book pro with logic 8 with no external plug-ins. hence my desire to expand!

i'd invest in monitors, headphones, some sort of input controler (pads/keys/both) and a decent a/d converter before i'd suggest a hardware synth. the ES2's a great synth plug; if that ain't gettin yr panties in a bundle, then try predator or massive as plugins.

If you can afford it, the Roland SH-201 is fantastic. Will keep you busy for months! :)

I really like my R3. There's nothing I want that it can't do.

Think you can find a b for around that. I just found one in an old box.

I was a different person when I used to own the b, but going through it now, I can easily tell that nasty is what this thing excels at.

Go for a Waldorf Blofeld - 379,- Eur

http://www.thomann.de/gb/waldorf_blofeld.htm

Its a Wavetable synth, makes for HUGE basses, nice pads, great FX and shit
Or try a used Virus B from ebay

See one Buy it Now on the bay for $560, a little scratch and an electrical taped power supply. Thinking of selling mine for some dj stuffs. My shit is pristine! Was hoping to get more than $550 for it though. -q-
