Finally, and perhaps the best hear (pun intended), is Introduction To Sound Recording by Geoff Martin which is worth its weight in gold.

Seriously WTF ?? This looks like the most depressing book ever. Scrolling down the summary makes me want to kill myself

Really? Why??

This book covers everything from the technological and mathmatical side of things in easy language. It doesn't cover arrangement or music theory, but then there are other books that delve into that anyway.... If one starts at the =very beginning, everything is explained and easy to follow imo.

That's my point, I had a glance at books like Sound Synthesis and Sampling by Martin Russ and it didn't feel like it would help me making music if I forced myself reading it.
To me, it's more for technicians than it is for musicians but each to their own

this book is amazing... and though i do agree with earlier posts about bob kats book or martin russ, but those are more specific to mastering for kats, and synthesis for russ.... snowman covers it ALL... even genre specific info, how-to patches for leads/bass/drum/perc/FX/etc... that come with a disc on how to make the sounds, sections on mixing/mastering/djing/promo... all kinds of stuff.... literally an amazing book and my MIDI teacher in college said "every producer should have this book"... it is definately the most like a Bible of electronic music.

If like me you're at uni. make use of the library.

Where I am there's like a music section and a sort of sound and music engineering section. Found plenty dope books there. Like books about mixing that would cost £60 normally.

If you're a student go have a look.
