Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-24
Just noticed it's a pretty big sample pack in comparison to the previous packs i've done. I'm more fan of the smaller ones, cuz uts more of a challenge to get nice sounds out of. Nevertheless big up static cast for the pack
Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-24
Its definately a nice pack, fairplay static (few out of the luthatron doa pack
) Hopefully there will be loads of really well produced entries. I just wasted a few hours trying to write in genres i dont even like (as per). Hopefully now the pissing about is out the way i can get a decent track down.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-24
It's true that we've usually preferred smaller packs in the past - however, something I've noticed is that people tend to go for the same general atmospherics/vibe for about 70 - 80% of submissions in the smaller ones, while bigger packs yield a wider variety of vibes. In this case there aren't too many different readymade synth pads so it could happen here too, but the drum selection in this is outstanding regardless.Project EX wrote:Just noticed it's a pretty big sample pack in comparison to the previous packs i've done. The only reason I take part is in the efforts of winning in order to give you all something utterly retarded to work with.wub wrote:static_cast wrote:I was considering giving you lot nothing but a sine, sawtooth and some white noise but thought it might be a bit cruel....
I'm waiting for the day someone does that

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-24
Yeah, I wasn't really sure what to go with to be honest. I figured it was kinda all or nothing, and having decided against the sine/square/saw/burst of white noise idea, figured I'd rather provide too much than have people bitching that I didn't give them what they needed to make their wobblestep/minimal shitstep/post-mudcore epic. To be fair, the point of the competition is inspiration rather than to win anything - so if you want to limit yourself, you can always just force yourself to scrap half the samples. I know I'm only gonna use about 10 of them.
If I win again, all you get in the next pack is the sound of me gurgling water - you've been warned.

Had a productive evening spent making ethnic perc loops and fucking with the guitar samples

Yeah you got a valid point there, we'll see what comes out of thisalphacat wrote:It's true that we've usually preferred smaller packs in the past - however, something I've noticed is that people tend to go for the same general atmospherics/vibe for about 70 - 80% of submissions in the smaller ones, while bigger packs yield a wider variety of vibes.Project EX wrote:Just noticed it's a pretty big sample pack in comparison to the previous packs i've done. Great sample pack. I don't think there is a genre you couldn't make with those components. I really enjoyed the last comp I entered so it's fun to see this one a bit earlier and have time to work properly.

Might have a crack at this one, always intended, never have....

Not sure if I'll be in on this one (again, no musical joy of late) but I'll grab the pack regardless

It's a really nice pack man. I'm just putting the finishing touches on something i simply wouldn't have come up with without the pack.static_cast wrote:Yeah, I wasn't really sure what to go with to be honest.
