nah son that aint it at all bro

i dont mind the heavy stuff, its just annoying when people listen to a tune and go, "ok when does the facefucking start"
or
"theres no bass"

when really its the sub is taking up 90 percent of the headroom

time and a place for everything is all...

if by "different music" you mean over-the-top macabre theatrics created by someone who thinks they're stuck inside a D'&'D campaign... then yes

my taste is better than yours and you should feel bad about that

At best it's a reflection of the inner or outer environment of the artist: at worst it's a bunch of suburban nobs trying to overcompensate for their self-perceived powerlessness by assuring you that they're badmen and really should be taken seriously, which of course mean they shouldn't be taken seriously.

the thing that was attractive to me about dubstep was the feeling of anything goes, it wasnt necisarily about what it was but what it could be and what influences i could bring to it myself.

i think coming on the interent and saying anything should or shouldnt be dubstep is counterintuitive to what dubstep used to really be about, wich imo was bring to it what you can as long as its 140ish and bassy go for it!

i remember when there werent but a few dirty midy bass tracks about and then more poeple started pushing that sound and now people want to rename it soemthin else as a kind of slate like its not good enought to fit their definition of what dubstep is but doesnt that really validate it as something unique and original, but none of the hard dubstep haterz would admit its unique and original, i dunno its somehow like trying to have your cake and eat it to i just dont understand that mentality.

imo what makes a genre good is different flavours, enough different sounds that anyone if they look hard enough can find what they consider good music within it. how boring and shitty would dubstep be if every tune was basically just a rehash of some deep dmz tune or soemthing, at least now theres influences from all over within dubstep. not that i like it all but i do beleive it all has its place.

ok enough, i hate when i get "suckered" into typing these long rants about how i see dubstep. to each their own i guess. id sure like to see more of that open mindedness come back to dubstep that drew me in in the first place. not that im going anywhere.

You guys got it good, stop begging for sub-genres because it all goes down hill from there. You have to option to either LIKE a track or either NOT like a track..

Like DH says it all its time and place, ex. the Ravey Stuff for.. raves and the Ambient stuff for when you run out of Ambien

Look at house music its a mess with how hardcore people act with their subgenres.. "I'm ONLY into Tech-House not any of that electro shit" .. yes you are also a music snob and a massive tool.

I am not begging for a sub genre

I want it to be its own type of music

and a scene full of gutterpunks like the old grindcore days

go... be free...

I don't mind the heavy stuff, if it's well produced and isn't just a generic synced up lfo then I'm fine with it and it works pretty well on the dancefloor too.

I see what you guys mean about this stuff not really being dubstep but at the same time I agree with press' opinion; one of the things I found so attractive about dubstep was the variety, sub-driven chilled out stuff and hard edgy stuff it's pretty amazing the amount of stuff you can fit in a genre defined (pretty much) by similar timings and emphasis on bass, that's a pretty good chance to take influences from any other style of music and turn it into something new, that's why I think it is all dubstep.

BUT it seems a lot of producers now are influenced almost exclusively by other producers making the same music as they do and we get some serious genre inbreeding and I think at some point dubstep's definition for a lot of people became kick on 1 snare on 3, 140bpm and wobbly bass (or is it th yoyoyoy bas now?) and instead of people bringing all kinds of influences into the genre we end with half of scene making uniform music that has almost no relation to its original roots so in a sense we've got a new genre forming, some aggro DnB/Dubstep hybrid so then maybe it is time it got its own name.

I'm liking the dubcore idea btw
How does I wobbled bass?

^great point about inbreeding i deifnitly think alot of peeps are using only dubstep influences and canabalizing shit, its another big reason i got into dubstep. dubstep presented an opportunity for me to use the sounds and inlfuences that got me into electronic music in the first place (dnb, specifically techstep/neurofunk) with out essentially biting everyone who did it before me.
