Would any find it useful if...

Post by Mouldy Soul » Sun Jun 06, 2010 9:19 pm

I was thinking about making a free to download starter production set for breaks/dubstep, including top notch drum sounds, a set of bass patches for massive (maybe some patches for a free synth* for mac and PC), some risers/fallers pitch and noise.

My question is a) would any one find it useful, does anyone actually want me to do this? b) Is there anything else you would like in the pack ie pad sounds, other samples etc?

*Recommendations of which synth would be really helpful if you know a cross platform free one.

Cheers peeps,

R

Hey,

I'm sorry but I can't find an AU version, I'm using a Mac, so if possible I need to find a free cross platform synth.

Innit,

I'm just trying to find a decent upload place now where I can perma-link the files to.

Drums sounds a plenty will be there selection of Kicks, snares, high-hats open and closed, maybe some cymbals + shakers, if I use any loops ie breaks/shaker loops I'll make sure they're 140bpm for you fiends :D

Easy,

Rich

Please don't, this is like a sure fire way to kill creativity :(, it sounds useful in practice, but everyone needs to spend some time finding their way...

This, nice to have samples etc floating about but I think everyone has to make a few utter shite tunes just getting their heads around what everything does.

Mate I just did it, if anything this will encourage creativity and help, wish i had this shit when I was starting out, might have made the process a little quicker.

Honestly the amount of times I've made tunes with shitly sourced drum sounds, wish I had a resource like this.

I agree everyone needs to spend time finding their way, but it always helps if you gotta decent teacher or get pointed in the right direction.

It won't kill creativity it will help push people in the right direction, and maybe they'll spend more time on other things like the intricacy of their music, as opposed to obbseing over a drum sound they will never be able to polish cause it was a piece of shit when they started.

I doubt this would help me much but it would be a great help for beginners. Talk to Futures Untold and see if you can get this included with the free studio/daw pack; here's a link to the thread http://www.dubstepforum.com/post1830209 ... e#p1830209

also big up for trying to help out beginners :t:

and for the whole 'killing creativity' thing, people tend to be more creative (in terms of arrangement) when they've got a set of pre-defined sounds instead of having to spend months learning about sound design before they can get a few things down in the sequencer

If drum sounds kill creativity then I should be musically dead.

Not sure what you mean with that link, is it a set vsts I take it, and get in touch and tell em to whack my pack with it? don't think it finished, lets call it a beta version!

Cheers for the bigups, I don't think it will kill creativity at all, it's like saying here's a guitar but i'm not gonna tell anyone how to use it.

Here's the thread if anyone hasn't checked it out with the sounds please show some love :)

yeah I meant when you finish the sample/patch pack you could give it away with all of that free software so that beginners have got a real good place to start

also here's another link; this is the thread for DSF user sample packs http://www.dubstepforum.com/thinking-of ... 46546.html so you could always whack it in there when you're finished too

It's already finished on the link above your last post, aimed at breaks/dubstep producer with fat ass drum sounds, a opposed to making a piano type sample pack.

Please check out what I've got in there and give me some feedback on it if you can, but cheers for the link, guess i've beaten them all to the punch seeing as that thread was from yesterday!

I thought you meant something so that you could pretty much cut and paste to make a song. But just downloaded the pack then (as am most definitely some sort of a noob) and some nice samples. Chea?
