Yeah jungle can be hard, but intros are still intros, it's just that you don't want two busy breaks heavy sections playing at the same time together in most places. All about the crossfader and knowing your tunes well enough to take one out and bring one in

yeah totally, the only way is to know your tunes really well. specially if its got a lot of vocals in it. but beat matching it is easy, cuz its so fast you can hear it going out straight away. unlike say dubstep, with the space between hits, its harder to know if its out.

agreed... when I first started out I had more trouble mixing house than jungle. The frame of reference and speed of reference made it really easy to fix up.

never really tried house, had a play about with minimal techno, found it boring and getting the beat match in difficult. had no real enthusiasm for it to be honest. like listening to it though. might give it another go though!

On the real, anything with vocals is a headache to mix out of.

i was ever thinking, that dnb is hard to mix, till i bought a set, and it came sooo damn easy. i agree with the 2step guiz. especially old tunes are harder to mix than every other music i tryed.

Hiphop is allso not easy, because of the vocals and melodies. allso theyr beats are verry variating.

If i compare mixing dubstep and mixing garage or 2step, it seems to me, like dubstep is tooooo easy- 140 bpm in the most tracks, nearly the same drums in every tune long intro n' outros...

2 step is DEFINITELY the hardest for me, but that just inspires me more. I've heard really clean 2 step mixes so I know it can be done

right now its cumbia

lots of variety in the bpms, song structure doesn't necessarily give you tidy 16s or 32s, and 33rpm pressings bounce out of groove quite easily

2 step is tough, really sounds clank unless yr on it

as far as roots dub goes I would rarely beat match that unless I had some spot on selection, all about tune to tune with those, spin backs and slow downs, picking it up with a drum fill for the next track

can't believe more people haven't said hip hop!
hip hop's definitely the hardest 4/4 genre with a steady beat to mix if you ask me. obviously reggae/dub/jazz is difficult, but it's not electronic, so it goes without saying its not easy to keep locked.

hip hop (or at least the hip hop I mix) has got irregular song structures, tracks less than 2 minutes long, vocals and extreme amounts of swing on the beats. compared to jungle, which a lot of people think is hard to mix, its a whole different game. jungle's easy to mix because there's so many drums - its really easy to tell when your tracks aren't in time. a lot of hip hop sounds out of time even when it is definitely in time!

turntablism is the height of mixing skill. fair enough, you can do turntablism with any genre, but hip hop mixing in itself is pretty much just turntablism...you need to have extreme skill to get respect from someone like Qbert for your mixing.

you need to be able to scratch and beat juggle to mix hip hop well, and both of those skills are infinitely harder to master than just straight beat mixing and dropping the track in at the right time, which is what most mixing consists of.

Progressive Rock!

Hard to switch from 16/9 to 5/8.

Needless to say, my mixes are precise and perfect in this genre!
