What's Copenhagen saying this week?

Post by planas » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:02 pm

Easy,

I'm in Copenhagen for a couple of days and am up for linking some music heads - going home on Thursday afternoon so this is a bit of a long shot, but is there anything mid-week worth reaching?

Apparently I just missed some big festival called Distortion which is quite annoying...anyways let us know what's popping, and if there aren't any gigs then can anyone recommend any good spots / shops / buildings of historic interest etc...holla!

That sucks mate, distortion was fucking huge, the whole city went mad! I am sorry, but the earliest would be at a small place called Saxons on thursday night. But you can't use that for anything. Good spots, shops and buildings of historic interest? Well, there are a few noteworthy places and spots for music and culture, but not much happening these days because of many things. Record shops are closing left and right because of everything going digital. But i do know a few shops you could check out if interested? and are you interested in anything other than music? Maybe some hip hop or street culture. Let me know, i'll see if i can help you?

if you guys fancy a good zoot you probably visited this place already, but if not: http://www.christiania.org/ Worth checking out even if you're not much for the reefer, it's a very different type of society within the city and there is restaurants and bars.

Found this as far as concerts go, http://www.lastfm.se/events/+place/Denm ... %B6penhamn

Christiania is always a place to check out... I could take the train into the city tomorrow and show you some record stores? But i gotta say we have lost some of our finest record shops....

Hi everyone, many thanks for the advice, i see what you mean about the record shops, I asked a guy in a mainstream hmv style store and he said all the specialist shops had closed... :(

This city is fucking amazing tho, the architecture and design everywhere is so sick...i went to Christiania last night and had a wicked time. Would love to come back and play here as everyone seems so welcoming and loads of people speak English which always makes it easier (although it makes me feel slightly embarrassed at how shit the English are for learning other languages...!!)

Tonight is my last night so not sure what i'm gonna be doing, it's probably too short notice to meet up but the chances are I'll be in Christiania looking happy and slightly lost. Holla if you find and Ranking Records stickers...

Looking forward to stepping by in Christiania myself in a few weeks. Good food, nice people, awesome
vibe 24/7.

I'll second Christiania as a must-see. Stir away from all the generic tourist bullshit that the city has to offer - far from all facets of Denmark are fantastic.

Should you come back to CPH over the summer, definitely have these events in mind:

RAW 2010, August 7-8, http://www.rawcph.com/ (LD, various Danish DJ's, etc.)
STRØM Festival, August 16-21, http://stromcph.dk/ (Instra:Mental, N-Type, F-ONE, etc.)

In general it seems like every weekend has bass to offer though, but the events above are the quite larger.
