Movement: Detroit Electronic Music Festival 2010

So Shiva's going, therefore I hate Shiva. Anyone else want to be hated? Anyone been before? It looks like the kind of party I'd imagine they have on Mount Olympus.

LOL. Well consider it the ONLY good thing about living where I do. It's only a 5 hour drive to Detroit.

On the other hand, I live in Indianapolis, where the big event this weekend is cars going really fast around a circle.

Ya take what ya can get. And if what you can get is an awesome techno festival once a year? Aight! ;)

On the other hand, I miss all the awesome UK dubstep events, so I think you get the better end of the deal, spooks. :|

Yeah that's a pretty sick line-up, very envious of anyone going to this. The last few years have been a bit poor in terms of the bookings but I think Carl Craig has got back on board this year and it shows.

the music in that video is garbage. house music was experimental the first year or two, since then its just been a copy of a copy. i cant believe it took 25+ years for some forward thinking folks in the UK to actually experiment with the beat for once.

hilarious

for someone looking for suggestions on "happy" dubstep to play for his wife and mom, you sure are eager to start a music argument

you're a clown

Yeah like totally!

I know what funky is. Half the shit posted in this forum isn't funky, its not deep or any form of house at all. most of it belongs in the dubstep thread

Btw, the track you wanted to know from some shitty burn party you posted a vid of is UGK+Outkast - international players anthem. Sick rave music

Some people still like house music, no matter if people like you think you are into the best music on earth because you listen to crunchy west coast jamz, bruv

Seriously, lol @ "experimental for first 2 years" and then boring until UK took a hold of it...

What do you expect to hear when you click on a thread for DEMF? There's a reason I stay out of Burning Man threads; I hated the wardrobe in Waterworld on camera, and I certainly don't want to be surrounded by Costner kids rolled out listening to Glitch Mob

dont get all upset! im not here often enough to know the stats, it sounded like you were dissing funky or anything else in the non compliant beats dept. of house music, is that the case? im sure there was some forward thinking music at the fest this year, but to me that vid represents a lot thats wrong with edm atm. that music is not much different than 1988. move the f on already!@

what the hell does burning man have to do with this? ummm, alrrighty then. lol. what video are you talking about that's UKG+outkast?

Didn't say anything about funky...said music posted on this forum

You assumed funky is what I didn't understand.

If you want to talk about tired music and the need to move on, look no further than the trends on this forum. Recycling 90s rave music is not forward thinking; it's desparation.

What does Burning Man have to do with DEMF? Absolutely nothing...just like your input. Don't expect to quote a Patrice Scott vid, call it garbage and sound like a scholar on music theory.

That video is of Detroit artists who have been around since the 80s/90s...hence the Made in Detroit title

same with the music played. Its classic

There is a lot of house and techno that has progressed; don't get things confused

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee west coast bass music!

still tho wth does burning man come into all this? and what video are you talking about "ukg+outkast"? and where do you get that i only like west coast bass music? so recycling old rave sounds is desperation yet you school people with old shit "this is house music".
