Re-Sampling / Bouncing
Hey, keep seeing people talking about Re-Sampling / Bouncing, could someone give me an insight into what this actually is? People swear by it for basslines and i havent got a clue what they are talking about haha. Can anyone shed some light for my please?

Re: Re-Sampling / Bouncing
People use resampling and bouncing for a load of different reasons, audio clips require a lot less processing power than using softsynths and VSTs so that's one reason for it also a lot of people prefer working exclusively (or mostly) with audio rather than using midi becaus it suits their workflow more and lets them chop up the audio and move it around easier and more flexibly that midi.
You can use resampling to save on processing power again (once it's recorded you don't need the fx chain/units you ran it through) or you can use resampling to process your sound even more by recording it with the fx on it and then running it through the same fx again. The main reason I use resampling is recording a load of synths together then resample a single cycle waveform and then throw that back into another synth for shiny custom waveforms.
This is just a basic (very basic) idea of what you can do with bouncing and resampling, I'm sure other people can add more and explain it more clearly but that's the gist of it.
Oh yeah and Bitcrushing is a form of digital distortion where the sound is degraded by reducing the number of bits holding the sound data.

How does I wobbled bass?

+1, you have a good, valid questionhakka wrote:

Excuse me if this is a stupid question but how is bitcrushing applied? Is it done by reducing the sample rate or are the effects applied on the synth itself?back2onett wrote:Oh yeah and Bitcrushing is a form of digital distortion where the sound is degraded by reducing the number of bits holding the sound data.

it's just a FX like any otherfaust.dtc wrote:Excuse me if this is a stupid question but how is bitcrushing applied? Re: Re-Sampling / Bouncing
Ok so let me get this straight, if i put a random bassline in Thor, add all my fx then save that sample with the fx. Then reload it as a single sample, that is a basic re-sampling?

Re: Re-Sampling / Bouncing
essentially yes, but to explain it to any real depth would be a page long posthakka wrote:Ok so let me get this straight, if i put a random bassline in Thor, add all my fx then save that sample with the fx. Then reload it as a single sample, that is a basic re-sampling?
there are plenty of threads that cover a couple aspects of resampling, just not all in one spot cause people do it for different reasons

Yeah, nice one people. Now i know what to look for. Will post any interesting finds uphurlingdervish wrote:essentially yes, but to explain it to any real depth would be a page long posthakka wrote:Ok so let me get this straight, if i put a random bassline in Thor, add all my fx then save that sample with the fx.
