That's pretty harsh dude. He's still putting out a movie every year and he's doing good work. He and Clint Eastwood would have a good battle for best septuagenarian film director.

IMDB:
Midnight in Paris (2011) (pre-production) (screenplay)
You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) (written by)
Whatever Works (2009) (written by)
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) (written by)
Cassandra's Dream (2007) (written by)
Scoop (2006) (written by)
Match Point (2005) (written by)

Does that seem like the resume of a dead man? Obviously doesn't do standup anymore but he's arguably the best comic director of all time.

Hedberg is the best of our generation hands down (RIP)

Aziz Ansari is the best thing around right now.

Interesting that you chose these two since they're kind of opposite styles. I think Aziz is hilarious but he's basically a pop comedian, not much substance really, even though I think he is great. Since Carlin died and Chapelle is in hiding, I would say Chris Rock is probably the best comic around (movie career not that good though). But I really love Ricky Gervais and he is working on another level, analyzing religion, society, ethics, etc., not just parodying Kanye and T-Pain and shit like Aziz does (brilliantly, I might add).

They're polar opposites but unique in their own rights. A laugh is a laugh no matter how its delivered.

No one is really ever gonna touch Hedberg. Too unique.

I agree Mitch is incredibly unique but does he do anything besides the one-liners? Even if he is hilarious, someone like Carlin or Pryor has got to be given the crown over someone who essentially is doing word-play. No offense to Mitch I do love him.

Bill Hicks, Chris Rock, Joan Rivers, Brian Limond, Jack Dee. Eddie Murphy used to do some quite funny stand up.
In layman’s terms I’m a displeased person; lunatic, maniac, dissatisfied person, madman, prick. You wanna play hard? Well I play in the graveyard and dance naked with corpses playing the depraved card- I’m chelsea smiling with my face scarred.
