New York’s favorite renegades of bassweight, The ‘Bass Fueled Mischief’ Crew return with ‘Metropolis’, and in this installment we present to you THE ONE, THE ONLY. THE EXECUTIONER ‘ANDY C’ alongside the always charismatic and distinctive sound of MC GQ.
ANDY C
Andy C, real name Andrew Clarke, is an English DJ and producer and co-founder of record label RAM Records.
A pioneering Drum and Bass DJ since the genre’s emergence in the early ’90s, he has consistently been voted World’s Greatest Drum and Bass DJ. He specializes in fast mixing, often employing three turntables, and is known for rinsing out maximum vibe by mixing established classics with cutting edge releases.
Andy C has become one of the world’s most revered Drum and Bass DJs, performing at Drum and Bass events worldwide. He is also an accomplished producer - working solo, with Ant Miles as Origin Unknown and also with both Ant Miles and Shimon as Ram Trilogy. Between them, they have produced many enduring anthems such as “Titan”, “No Reality” and “Valley of the Shadows”, as well as a large number of remixes. The 2002 Shimon & Andy C hit “Body Rock” also achieved the rare distinction of being a Drum and Bass record that entered the UK pop charts (reaching number 28 in the UK Singles Top 40 Chart on January 6, 2002).
Andy C’s record label RAM Records was started with Ant Miles in 1992 and is based in Hornchurch, Essex. Ram Records consists of DJs and producers: Shimon, Red One, Moving Fusion and Sub Focus. Some of Ram Records’ most popular releases of recent times are Noisia’s “Facade”, Sub Focus’ “Airplane”, Sub Focus’ “TimeWarp”, Shimon’s “The Shadow Knows” and Chase & Status’s “Pieces”. Ram Records held a residency at the London club until ‘The End’ nightclub decided to shut their doors on the 31st of January 2009.

ODI - New Amsterdam/BFM
Jungle or drum&bass is one of the evolutions of the 90s electronica wave, characterized by an emphasis on fast-paced breakbeat and prominent bassline. It was then, back in its formative years that Bronx-born, Harlem-raised Odi entered the scene and gave it his kind of direction. “I grew up around 125th street , the home of hip hop. So it was natural to be an aggressive DJ, putting in the hip hop elements. It’s what I know.” His break came around after high school, when running promotions for the famous NASA rave parties at Club Shelter grew into a steady DJing slot. From there, Odi and some childhood friends who shared a lifestyle, culture and musical interest began pumping out electronic records with their own signature twist. “Jungle didn’t happen as a music until 96. Back then it was all just called breaks or techno was the common term,” Odi recalls. Fans would argue that it was not only the position but the skills that propelled Odi and his DJ crew, Digital Konfusion, into the underground limelight. Their way of mixing jungle beats with Hip Hop has grown into its own genre. “Jump up” has been the defining style of NYC and the east coast in general since 97, when the crew formed their own eponymous record label and began spinning at NYC’s most dedicated weekly jungle show: “http://www.konkretejungle.com/“Konkrete Jungle. Odi rapidly became a fixture, while continuing to travel the country, one of the first few to enjoy such popularity. The next step for Odi is his upcoming artist’s album and taking his music online for digital distribution. But most of all, he would just like to continue playing, unconstrained by genre. “They have names for all the different styles, but I like it better when it was just music,” says Odi, smiling. “When it comes down to it, no one really knows the difference.”
HELLFIRE MACHINA (UK) - Rocstar/Brap Dem/Dubstep.FM - http://www.hellfiremachina.com/
Prior to the birth of this project in late 2008. Jody Shires and Tom Williams collectively had over 60 releases under their belts, along with production work for grammy nominated artists, numerous UK top ten remixes, 5 Breakspoll Awards, Best International Dj in the Spanish EDM awards 3 years running and a history in bass culture that is second to none.. The year is now 2010, sonic exploration in the realm of bass fueled riddims is the primary mission for Hellfire Machina. With residencies at New Yorks legendary Club Love, Darkroom in Brooklyn and Psychadelic Radio in SF, it’s no wonder these guys are in high demand. Their weekly radio show on dubstepfm has gone from strength to strength and has helped push the awareness of bass music across the globe as well as providing a platform to hear the latest Hellfire creations first, often in early stages as they are delevoped in their now famously named studio Planet Twisted. Ending last year with A and R and project management credits for the Wu Tang ‘Enter The Dubstep’ album and a string of singles and remixes, they have hit the ground running in 2010. A fresh batch of releases due to hit the streets imminently, a new label project with techno legend Lenny Dee in the works as well as the next chapter in the infamous BASS FUELED MISCHIEF parties in their homebase of NYC.
NEBULLA of Code Of Arms - BFM/COA/Dubstep.fm
Hailing from New York City and a longtime Jungle and Drum and Bass enthusiast, Nebulla (Ben Dotson) has over the years refined his style with a clear dedication to mash-up genres. In 2007 Nebulla teamed up with DJ Dore to create the Dirtystep Mixtape series. Volumes 1 and 2 were well received and led to an avalanche of Crunk/Dirtysouth influenced Dubstep production. Nebulla started Code Of Arms Records that summer and in 2008 Los Angeles based label La Dubstep Nostra signed Nebulla and Dore for their Czar Black Remix Gettin’ Doe, released on vinyl along with tracks by Parson and 6blocc. Nebulla went on to release tracks on Filthy Digital and was featured on the Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Vol. 2: Enter The Dubstep album, which he A&R’d with help from Jody Shires of Hellfire Machina. Nebulla and Hellfire Machina have joined New York City jungle heavyweight Odi to form Bass Fueled Mischief, hosting two NYC based events each month, “Metropolis” and “Headspace”. Tune in to Nebulla’s weekly show on Dubstep.fm Fridays and expect to hear big things from him and Code Of Arms in 2010.
