Funny thing: there are some tracks Rusko produced on the (amazing, IMHO) MIA album that are closer to heartland dubstep than pretty much anything on his own album!

Im feeling district 9 on his new album, thats it though.

Hes just pushin his own sound thats all. Nothin wrong with it, it just doesnt appeal to the more 'core' listeners, its not meant to, as we are no longer his audience.

Weve still got the classics though, Jah love, Lions paw and the likes. Bigup

SRLSLY, there's some quite bizarrely spacey stuff on there....

Anyway back on the Mixmag feature, I hope that people do get some enjoyment from it. It tries to cram quite a lot into limited space - not through any fault of the editorial team who gave up all the space that they could - so inevitably there will be some ommissions. In particularly it jumps from the "PAST" feature (w/ El-B, Benny Ill, Zed Bias etc) to the "PRESENT" (the cover stars) without much sense of how it got from there to here... That is the one big ommission: there was supposed to be a box-out with a roll-call of all the names who built the scene over those years which got left out by sheer oversight. Hopefully, though, this will still give people who've only just discovered dubstep a sense of the depth of history behind it, and with any luck there'll be the opportunities to do more on that history in future issues.

I remember reading once that Mixmag wouldn't release a Dubstep mix CD as they didnt think it would sell....

I'm sure one of the main reasons in getting Rusko aswell as Caspa on the main cover is to attract a larger audience to purchase the magazine.

Anyways, looks like it will be a good read :)

didn't think it was all that really.

Missed hell of a lot of content. So much space was given to the 'daddies' of dubstep, but not the now.
