while dubstepforum was down...

Post by Frodo Bassbins » Sat Jun 26, 2010 6:44 pm

i was over on dogsonacid.com lurking through their production forum which is called the grid. what i noticed is over there they allow newcomers to post their tunes and instead of posting pictures of alpacas and saying " IN B4 THE LOCK LOLOLOL" guess what they do.. wait for it ... THEY ACTUALLY GIVE FEEDBACK AND ADVICE LOL.i know right? what the fuck is their problem they clearly should be curbstomping these noob insects to the ground. where do they get off on this shit? .

joking aside, im just wondering why this forum does not allow the same to happen. if a newcomer posts his tune in his own topic looking for feedback here why is that so bad. if you dont want to give advice to him then dont. is it really fucking up your day that bad to have to read the title of a forum topic? i dno just seems weird to me :t:

It keeps things semi organized unlike the grid.

Actually, I find that it's best to swap tunes with good mates in the production field and get/give feedback that way.

Just a personal preference.

This stuff keeps me off DOA...

I mean...

Yeah... thats why its not that way here...

On ICODEVIRUSES forum, we have a place to post and review visual artwork, as well as a theoretical coding and project feedback section... Why doesnt DSF have that?

Frodo, you've just experienced the pleasure of the federated internet. If you prefer their system, by all means, move there and enjoy.

I have never been able to find anything on DOA that wasn't linked to me by someone (most likely Deadly habits in some thread)

I realised that I don't really need it anymore :o Even my SoundCloud plays didn't suffer too harshly. I'll still stick around for my friendly community pals though :w:

I've been registered there for close to 10 years under one nick or another, most recently this one for a few years now. Tunes aren't allowed to be posted on the Grid either. Some stay if it's directly production related, but threads started purely for feedback on music are moved into the Tune Showcase which is a subforum made specifically for posting works in progress, or full tunes for feedback. There is also one for mixes called the DJ Booth. I'm not too sure how they handle this issue on the main forum The Board, that forum moves way too fast for me so I rarely jump in the discussion, but I'm sure it's similar. They are currently working on the new forum/site, and yeah the grid has been slow the last few months, but at least there's not 10 reese question threads every day like there used to be. That's also probably why some of the recent tune threads haven't been moved.

DSF handles things similarly. There are stickied threads specifically made for feedback on tunes. It might not be what you had in mind, but I think it's better than having loads of threads being made here of nothing but people posting works in progress. I understand people want some feedback, but it would get out of hand quickly and they want to keep it as organised as possible.
