most of the artists who are cited as being the bigger names in "Drumstep: are dnb producers who started making dubstep now combined the two
the sound was around long before this term and before dubstep, just nowhere near as popular back then or prolific
That Amit - Erazer tune ain't Drumstep either.
care to explain why?
is it because it came out in 2003, because it sure is halfstep
sounds like dnb to me... like honestly if you showed sum1 this tune are u gonna be like YO LOOK AT MY NEW GENRE ITS CALLED DRUMSTEP. its totally new bro. any1 that has listened to dnb will just be like ROFL

no just mad about stupid genre names and calling something established something new
love the tunes and music hate the sub sub genre bs
sub genres are there just as descriptive terms. Someone says to you that so and so just made a new Drumstep tune, then you know what it is. Saying "Drumstep" is easier than saying half speed DnB or 175bpm Dubstep. no?
i just hate subgenres because instead of people looking for good music under a common genre name they segregate themselves to one lil niche and ignore anything else but that niche for the most part. that and it seems to give a rise and reason for hipsters and the lemming ilk like them.

Chase & Status made some half step tunes a few years ago too, but I still wouldn't call them Drumstep. The snare isn't on every 2nd beat.
Maybe I'm wrong...

yea but it's sped up dubstep too though right? i mean erazer def has more sounds and elements in it relating to dub and dubstep than drum and bass... so what exactly is the definition for drumstep? or does no one even know?
if snare placement is a genre definition requirement now then fuck me...
half-step dnb, amit's been making it for a while

the only thing i dont like about it is people are calling it 175 bpm dubstep. this shit has been around since way before people decided that "dubstep" was its own "genre"
its fucking jungle people. you're allowed to like jungle, you dont have to call it something else
