Are there anything dubstep related in Seattle?

Post by JensMadsen » Mon Jun 28, 2010 3:54 pm

Hello lads. I am going to Seattle this friday with a mate to stay with a family he knows. Back to the point, i was wondering if there are any record stores who sells dubstep? Or just record stores for that matter.
Thanks

I know its not related to record shops, but the thread title is misleading. As far as dubstep in seattle, theres a lot going on. Shift Recordings http://shiftdubstep.com/ is based out of that city, and there's a promotion company who does dubstep events with headliners fairly often: http://www.harvardstmafia.com

TBH easy street on queen ann has a lot more dubstep in stock than platinum or zions gate, and is $2-3 cheaper a 12!! zions gate is a great shop for actual dub and hard to find wax (the upstairs is a junglist's heaven!!) but platinum should just die. It is a horrible place to support. In 2005 I went to them talking about this new sound and whether they were going to stock it or not and the "too-cool" kids at the counter just laughed it off... five years latter and their entire dubstep section is one crate and a half big... what a joke. I went to Jeferson at EZ street and he took the sound seriously and has been for some time. Now ez street has the biggest collection of dubstep for sell in seattle and most of the 12's are $8-9 each. Support the real local shops that support local DJ's. Fuck platinum :t:

Nice one, Fractal. I buy so little vinyl these days, good to know, though. Only good thing about Platinum is they have a Shift Recordings section ;):)
