I use these fof DJing. I like the isolation that you get with so much clamping pressure, and they stay on your head when you put one ear off. They are not mechanically durable though. The band cracks.

use the same as MiretZ, dude: do u ever find that the damn wires always get tangled up, once the wires start to twists- the wires twists themselves on movement... its really getting to me. Used the sony v-700's- they were pretty darn nice...and only ONE WIRE..lol

Grado SR-80

Not bad, but for mixing I'm looking to step up to Sennheiser HD-580. That's some sweet cans for long sessions.

i dunno if there's a huge difference y'know. I'll have to grab the spare Grado's here at work and compare em with the hd580precision's i've got at home at some point......... :)
is it?

NO.

for years i was using the sony 7506's. that is, until i left 'em at a gig this past weekend and the DJ after us most likely walked away w/ them (dude, if i find you, it's baseball bat time. that shit is not cool).

for now, the $30 audio-technica M20s are not a bad replacement at all. especially at the price. not as clear (ie, hyped) in the highs but that's better for production. not as much fun to DJ w/ though.

for general listening and session work, etymotic er6's; expensive but amazing, and much better sound than the shure e5's which are frikkin' $500!!!:

For production I like Beyer-Dynamic Dt77's if I am in danger of getting the cops called on me (after 2:00 am or so)

For dj'ing I use the Shure in ear monitors, I am deaf in one ear and they help me balance live / cue in my good ear (SUPER LOUD)

Was using HD25 for mixing, bass sounded much better than it actually was, switched to HD25SP. Also they don't crush your ears so much.
