Weed And Producing

You find it easier to make tunes after a nice smoke? I havent smoked anything now for 2 weeks, can just about cope with 10 minutes on a tune then i get stressed and feel like i have no creativity. Not a good thing, need to break the mould! I do enjoy a nice smoke though, just wanted to have a go without. Thoughts / Experience?

I feel like if I ever smoke I get super distracted, and antsy. Personally not my drug of choice.
Best way I find of breaking through an uncreative wall especially if it's stressing you out, is to take a break, keep occupied. Maybe jot down ideas and come back to them in a couple of days.

Seems like you became dependant on it, after I stopped blazing it took me a good year and half to be able to have a longer attention span than a 2 year old.

Its not a producing thing, its a stopping being an addict haha..

Now I haven't had a toke in about 3 years, I'm actually a lot better creatively I am much more patient to not give up and throw away good ideas just because I am high and I got bored for a second. If anything I would say that yes, tokers might make good tunes but it 'narf clouds your judgement, its better to create without it.

I have been smoking for ages now, pretty much every day. Always made my tunes when im stoned. Started making me well lazy. I get what your saying about being dependant on it, i have been stoned ever since i started producing so this is a new avenue for me. Its just started to get to me now and i could do without it. Stopped drinking / taking drugs and i want to just concentrate on my music. I know if i carry on now its going to be a bigger problem later on. Withdrawals are getting better now and im working on something this morning. Im just going to stick it even if i do get pissed off haha

Just go do something else innit, read a book, go for a walk, just don't think about producing if its bothering you! Theres nothing worse than havin' to do something if it aggrivates me at the best of times, can't imagine what i'd be like on a withdrawal flex, again!

After spending a very long time without smoking pot at all, music is the one thing that makes me want to do it again from time to time.
Not only for producing but even listening to it smashed makes me realize how deep music can really be. Like back in the days I was taking lsd. It just makes the ear so much more sensitive. Only if I don't abuse tho... cause after a while the mind and body get used to it and then I'm just a silly pot head
The best compromise for me when producing is to make the main part of the tune without smoking and then complete it high to bring that extra something I wouldn't get normal.

Seriously tho, drugs won't make you creative if you're not but it does modify the senses perception and the mind which can be used creatively.

I find that sometimes after a big one,I'm like super productive and creative,but that's very rare..Most of the time I get lazy and go watch tv shows on sidereel hahah

Yeah deffo the creativity is there with or without drugs. You get so used to listening to music whilst stoned that it seems abnormal without. I know i can make tunes without, i think its just a concentration thing and the routine of doing it with terminator eye. I remember Skream saying he likes to have a little smoke to hear the music from a listener / ravers point of view. When you start to get dependant on it like me it gets out of control and your mind doesnt know any diffrent. I used to be really bad, not being able to sleep without a joint etc. Im feeling really positive today though after 2 weeks without a joint

i usually wait till i've got an idea laided down. then start to smoke it up to help with the creativeness of synth work etc.

But I know that as soon as I drop a track that is killer and even I think it's good then all my stressing will be worth it.

Back on topic... weed makes me feel ill if I have it during the day and I only ever produce during the day so the two are seperate for me.
