never moderation here helped anything, just messed up things more when they were tending to reach a natural balance

link me to another forum that you consider well moderated. i really want to see this.

m8, my experience is this: moderation is almost nonexistent on snh, as opposed to other sections, and for me that's the interesting part - to see the people freely expressing themselves.
so things are balancing themselves naturally, and when out of the blue badger decides to pass by and take action once in a while, instead of helping he causes even more stir most of the cases, usually because he's biased by his obvious strong feelings towards members/topics, his grounds for action are as solid as his intelligence and his morals are non-existent. there's been a few other good interventions as well imo, not sure by whom, maybe him too, but those "signed" by badger usually had this effect. take it or leave it, there is no link to approve/disprove what i said better than the one you're on

if you want to defend badger by saying "this is about as good as it can get" and leave the whole responsibility on the crowd, or just a small group of people, this is exactly what you shouldn't do, because mods' job is to manage the crowds, innit? so you can't say: "he worked on the situation here very hard but he has no responsibility for it". it's not possible in this universe. either he is not involved or he is responsible, get meh?

i'm aware i owe a lot to dsf, my actions here may appear one way or another, depending on who and how perceives things, but as things always turn my way sooner or later, some people saw and some will see my shit never is founded on negative motivations and rarely did wrong to dsf, so take the dark shades off your eyes when you talk to me, breathe deeply, calm down and think

if moderation looks non existent then that's because i like to let things run themselves until they run into problems, which is when i step in. if it's your opinion that i've made matters worse then you're welcome to it, but as you've said there have also been times when it's helped... which isn't terribly consistent of you bearing in mind you say you'd rather the forum was left to run itself but whatever. if people were mature and intelligent enough to sort things out and not troll each other than i'd be very happy to leave you to it but that's simply not the case - as the last few days have proven. the best moderation method is for users to simply ignore people when they're either deliberately stirring up problems, or just too stupid to realise the situation they're creating, but as we've seen from threads going into 20 or 30 pages that's obviously not happening so there comes a point when action needs to be taken

i know you feel hard done to but you've got away with a hell of a lot here AP, any other forum you'd have been perma banned ages ago. i don't know if you've ever taken look at the rules but this is one of them

now that's not a rule that i want to exercise, whatever you'd like to think about my morals, which is why that wasn't anything to do with your previous ban, and it's also why you've not had a ban since, as that's the only rule you've broken since then

that doesn't even make sense. the only way for this to be done democratically is for every decision to go to a public vote which is never going to happen and wouldn't work even if it did, and you'd just be complaining about people ganging up on you if decisions went against you. i don't know what specifically you're referring to but i don't only step in when some people are involved. i had to warn two people on this forum that i consider mates today and if they overstep the mark again they'll be dealt with just like anyone else. the reason you and bass hertz may have appeared to have been dealt with heavy handedly is because both of you persistently acted in a way that i (and others) consider trolling, and as a result actions and posts that wouldn't be so significant if taken in isolation take on a different complexion. anyway, you've had enough arguing with me and i've had enough arguing with you so there's no point carrying on with this
