...when you can just "use multidynamic freq' splitting and just add alittle reverb on the low end"Moxxiedubstep wrote:whats the point?lp wrote:Do botherMoxxiedubstep wrote: Dont bother with the whole "Layering" crap.

yea and what's the deal with people not just using presets for synths and basslines?!?!Moxxiedubstep wrote:whats the point?lp wrote:Do botherMoxxiedubstep wrote: Dont bother with the whole "Layering" crap.

Theyre all waiting for a "Datsik' preset.![]()
Sunklo you continue jock me ,lol . you dont even know how to go about doing multidynamic freq splitting without googling it. take a hike.
BTW you impersonating Mt.Eden is the worst fucking troll move ive EVER seen. Go die

I agree on layering snares, like a i said. but kick drums dont have to be sculpted by layering.deadly habit wrote:but seriously layering drums is the only way to sculpt that perfect snare or kick etc imo unless you build and mic up your own or synthesize em. that and it allows for some unnatural yet natural sounding hits. if only every producer had a shop and engineer for building a snare, kick, cymbal for that tone they want and the arsenal of mics and endless possibilities of rooms with diff acoustic properties to record em in,
well with kicks depends on what type of sound i want. maybe a drum machine thump with an acoustic tail or the initial punch from one drum machine with an 808 tail. that and acoustic bass drums have a lot of factors to em, but most get lost when it comes to edm if you ask me. kicks like snares have many factors involved if not synthesizedMoxxiedubstep wrote:I agree on layering snares, like a i said. but kick drums dont have to be sculpted by layering.deadly habit wrote:but seriously layering drums is the only way to sculpt that perfect snare or kick etc imo unless you build and mic up your own or synthesize em. that and it allows for some unnatural yet natural sounding hits. if only every producer had a shop and engineer for building a snare, kick, cymbal for that tone they want and the arsenal of mics and endless possibilities of rooms with diff acoustic properties to record em in,
With saying that , what do you mean the perfect kick? what do you describe a perfect kick to be?
Im curious because i never use or layer my kicks.

Multidynamic frequency splitting? As opposed to crossover based frequency splitting? Are you on some next level shit that splits bands based on their dynamic content instead of at static points? Or just talking out your ass? Only reason I google anything you say is to laugh at the jumble of unrelated search results. You'll be on about flux capacitor transfer curves next![]()
Good one trying to pin the weaksauce troll attempts on me. You're definitely doing a better job at trolling the production section than that Mt Eden dude and I doubt you're even trying, so props for that.
deadly you can change the resonance and eq of a pure acoustic drum kick and get a 909 kick from just the punch of the acoustic kick, without layering anything and keep the acoustic tail youre talking about.deadly habit wrote:well with kicks depends on what type of sound i want. maybe a drum machine thump with an acoustic tail or the initial punch from one drum machine with an 808 tail. that and acoustic bass drums have a lot of factors to em, but most get lost when it comes to edm if you ask me. kicks like snares have many factors involved if not synthesizedMoxxiedubstep wrote:I agree on layering snares, like a i said. but kick drums dont have to be sculpted by layering.deadly habit wrote:but seriously layering drums is the only way to sculpt that perfect snare or kick etc imo unless you build and mic up your own or synthesize em. that and it allows for some unnatural yet natural sounding hits. if only every producer had a shop and engineer for building a snare, kick, cymbal for that tone they want and the arsenal of mics and endless possibilities of rooms with diff acoustic properties to record em in,

yea you can, but it's kinda more work then necessary when you can just layer 2 kicks up and envelope em to fitMoxxiedubstep wrote:deadly you can change the resonance and eq of a pure acoustic drum kick and get a 909 kick from just the punch of the acoustic kick, without layering anything and keep the acoustic tail youre talking about.deadly habit wrote:well with kicks depends on what type of sound i want. maybe a drum machine thump with an acoustic tail or the initial punch from one drum machine with an 808 tail. that and acoustic bass drums have a lot of factors to em, but most get lost when it comes to edm if you ask me. kicks like snares have many factors involved if not synthesizedMoxxiedubstep wrote:I agree on layering snares, like a i said. but kick drums dont have to be sculpted by layering.deadly habit wrote:but seriously layering drums is the only way to sculpt that perfect snare or kick etc imo unless you build and mic up your own or synthesize em. that and it allows for some unnatural yet natural sounding hits. if only every producer had a shop and engineer for building a snare, kick, cymbal for that tone they want and the arsenal of mics and endless possibilities of rooms with diff acoustic properties to record em in,

in the song i did called Tron legacy i did something of this manner to create a laser like tail on a 909 kick with no layering
As for 808 kicks theres many ways to get modeled 808 kicks with just a synth vst a eqing. theres alot of tricks that seem to have been pushed under the rug. gotta check history.

it is not a multiband compressor solely.SunkLo wrote:Yeah obviously I'm clueless because I don't know about a plugin from Ableton? It sounds like a regular multiband compressor to me, but you know, I'm just an idiot... So basically your original suggestion was split the bands and apply reverb to the lows while panning out everything else am I correct?

yea everyone has their own workflow manMoxxiedubstep wrote:True. Geuss each its own. but you still have to pitch the two samples first, then clean up the freq's between the two then work them again and lastly put them together. I just found the way i use to be easier i geuss.
