...when you can just "use multidynamic freq' splitting and just add alittle reverb on the low end"
C'mon guys Moxxie knows his shit, if he says don't bother layering, DON'T BOTHER LAYERING! Ya dig?

Sunklo you continue jock me ,lol . you dont even know how to go about doing multidynamic freq splitting without googling it. take a hike.

BTW you impersonating Mt.Eden is the worst fucking troll move ive EVER seen. Go die :)

but seriously layering drums is the only way to sculpt that perfect snare or kick etc imo unless you build and mic up your own or synthesize em. that and it allows for some unnatural yet natural sounding hits. if only every producer had a shop and engineer for building a snare, kick, cymbal for that tone they want and the arsenal of mics and endless possibilities of rooms with diff acoustic properties to record em in,

Lp that track in your sig is way nice. And i dont normally like alot of other members tunes on here. Question though , did you compress the sub bass?

listen to some house tracks or something just not specificly dubstep and if you like them sound of the drums just sample them and use them
its not like percussion and drums were specificly made for dubstep
also putting a clap under the snare makes it more punchy

Dude you're just sticking jargon words together to invent phantom techniques.
Multidynamic frequency splitting? As opposed to crossover based frequency splitting? Are you on some next level shit that splits bands based on their dynamic content instead of at static points? Or just talking out your ass? Only reason I google anything you say is to laugh at the jumble of unrelated search results. You'll be on about flux capacitor transfer curves next

Good one trying to pin the weaksauce troll attempts on me. You're definitely doing a better job at trolling the production section than that Mt Eden dude and I doubt you're even trying, so props for that.

I agree on layering snares, like a i said. but kick drums dont have to be sculpted by layering.

With saying that , what do you mean the perfect kick? what do you describe a perfect kick to be?

Im curious because i never use or layer my kicks.

well with kicks depends on what type of sound i want. maybe a drum machine thump with an acoustic tail or the initial punch from one drum machine with an 808 tail. that and acoustic bass drums have a lot of factors to em, but most get lost when it comes to edm if you ask me. kicks like snares have many factors involved if not synthesized

Wow youre an idiot LOL. Multidynamics is a plugin - Ableton- that is used to do freq splitting with out having to link or create seperate channels and putting it back into one channel. ex. send busses with independant freq's , or using cubase 6.1 and spreading the freq's over 3 channels then back into one.

So obviously youre clueless

deadly you can change the resonance and eq of a pure acoustic drum kick and get a 909 kick from just the punch of the acoustic kick, without layering anything and keep the acoustic tail youre talking about.

in the song i did called Tron legacy i did something of this manner to create a laser like tail on a 909 kick with no layering

As for 808 kicks theres many ways to get modeled 808 kicks with just a synth vst a eqing. theres alot of tricks that seem to have been pushed under the rug. gotta check history. As i didnt create these methods of how to do it, i came across the info like everyone else does.

so let me cover my ass and say i didnt invent this. :t:

yea you can, but it's kinda more work then necessary when you can just layer 2 kicks up and envelope em to fit
heh i have my own 808 and 909 kick samples i made from scratch as well so i get what you're saying, just best to keep it simple imo

True. Geuss each its own. but you still have to pitch the two samples first, then clean up the freq's between the two then work them again and lastly put them together. I just found the way i use to be easier i geuss.

Yeah obviously I'm clueless because I don't know about a plugin from Ableton? It sounds like a regular multiband compressor to me, but you know, I'm just an idiot... So basically your original suggestion was split the bands and apply reverb to the lows while panning out everything else am I correct?

it is not a multiband compressor solely.

Yes, split the bands. brickwall the low and set it to mono and add slight reverb , set mids and highs to "Side" only brickwall both accordingly.

You saying limit them? Or weren't you on about brickwall filtering or something as another name for band reject filters?
Sharp crossovers is pretty foolish in terms of phase and just sounding nasty, but then again so would brickwall limiting your samples unless just shaving off the tops.
