thanks all for the comments so far. found time to listen to some more tracks. i've only been at it 6 months myself, so take this for what you will...

@Kesek- on the DnB track- i really like it, just 2 things, first the sub just seems a bit too low. it was hardly coming through (at least on my system). 2nd, not sure i really liked the reversed drums. found it distracting from an otherwise great track. really can't comment on the prog house track. your last track is solid. really like it, and the name fits the track perfectly. :) oh, and thanks for making the download avail.

@reignz- thanks for the comments. i'll keep working on it. as i learn more it can only get better. at least in theory. def like how your rmx is turning out.

@Bradicle- nice one

@Bartcore: Interesting approach, definitely has a heavy metal feel to it, did you send this into the comp?

@ObsidiaMusic: SOunding heavy on this one, think kick could come out a bit, try sidechain or maybe get fatter! :)

@Reignz: Yhes man coming along quite well, there's parts thought that I can not hear the sub at all juss kak business

@oscarhenson: Good vibes comin through this song, tighten up drums, and eq where needed, definitely missing something though

@Crowd Control: Mellow, chilled out, but drums could definitely use more punch and presence, lead sounds lush I wouldn't change anything there and the pads work well here

@Naroja: production is sound big! Everything sounds eq'd properly, would like to hear more, that was way too short for me to even say anything lol!

@mattyseizure: Yhes man dont put stereo on anything that is bass unless you will be playin out on stereo system, think wobble could definitely come out a bit more

@Bluenotes: Mmmhhmm this is solid here, great sample, love the jungle 2-step break, good vibes, are you playing the rhodes on this?

Current work in progress, really need feedback on structure and additional elements that I could add, thoughts and ideas are always welcome, great to have everyone on this forum feedback on each others work, cheers! :D

Okay, so this is my very first dubstep track EVER...I have only been using ableton for 3 weeks..this is literally 3 weeks old. I only have headphones, so not sure how loud it is. Again i'm only 3 weeks in, only headphones, no midi controller and limited resources at the moment. First wack...leave feedback..please...good, bad, ugly...it's all good to me.

@ bartcore I like the idea, allthough I don't like the distorted guitar. It sounds a bit flat, some eq'ing could do the trick. Vocals go well with it, but I heard it a bit to much though.

@ Noirpantalon Percussion is cool, but it doens't fit with the others sounds imo. Kick and scket nare sounds way to flat. Your snare needs more high.

@ Obsidia Production wise this is a-ok. Don't like the sound of the wobble though. Just matter of personal taste I guess.

@ Reign Same as Obsidia Production.

@oscarhenson Nice vibe in your tune. Love the atmosphere, but there's a lack of variation. Work on your arrangements, add some new elements ...

@Crowd Control Hmm I'm not sure if the synth that come in at 1:20 really fits. Try to add some variation in your synth. Maybe that will help. Nice tune though, I like the laidback atmo!

@ Nacklewicket Nice tune. I'm missing a main lead though, a catchy hook. Love the atmosphere, and the sounds in the background. Don't like the synths coming in at 1:31 and the wobble sound. It doesn't really fit imo. Try to search for others sound. I'm thinking of a reese or rave synths.

@bluenotes Very nice! Love the jungle feel. Production is nice. I'm waiting for a big drop to come though. :)

@ HAACK Good tune! Reminds me a lot to Kryptic Minds. I'd add some elements though. KM tunes also sound very basic but If you hear very carefully, you'll notice a lot of different sounds. Also your snare sounds a bit flat. Add some delay or reverd and make it more punchy. Eager to hear your next attempts!

HAAK - Nice track got well into this!!! Id add maybe a sutble voice sample delay it and reverb!!! something that obviously fits in though. nice intrbit o aswell, this needs to darken up a little tiny bit but even then thats just my preference. smashing tune sir!!!!

The Bread Man - nice ideas in there but........ sidechain!!! and take down the levels of your bass sounds they are very very high in my system. Also id make the snare more oomphy if you catch my drift. maybe layer with 1 or 2 more snare samples and add a touch of reverb you will notice the difference. All in all a good effort id suggest reading up the dubstep prodcer bible on the forum it will help at lot :) dont think im slating the tune track though it is good just need work, will wait in anticiaption for the updated/finshed track :)

The Dub Lemon - brilliant sample at the start nice 1 haha lovely sounds in here bass is lovely drums also. at one point i was expecting ARE YOU READY to drop loved that bit it threw me completly off!!! very nice track sir!!!

Heres my track

Soundcloud

Anyone who can help me with making the perfect drop can....... have a blue peter badge and my respect :D

Any feedback of course will be given back an i will drop some more later anyway peace!!!!!!1

@haack - really nice, loved the intro.. think the kick is a little loud and the bass a little quiet and some EQing is needed (as in mine). otherwise, the only thin i'd say is regarding that the little pad/atmospheric line over the top that kind of becomes more pronounced over time - it'd be great to hear that at one point, however briefly, break out into the surface and then sink back down again. that's just how i was feeling when i listened though. really really feel the track though, the bass is hard and the beat works really well. finish this!

@goldorak - cheers man; like i said, the arrangement isnt done and there's bit to add. i've added some more stuff, namely a vocal chop up i quite feel so let me know if it works for you. regarding your tune, really feeling the bassline especially, and the silence at the end of each bar is really effective - reminded me of a tune youngsta might drop or something. i think the second half of the tune needs some work.. if i'm honest i think it works better really stripped down as it is in the beginning, but then again if you worked on it the more busy 'drop' could work just as well. but overall, really feeling the tune and the vibes and look forward to hearing finished product.

@nacklewit - cheers man, really great to hear such great praise. i've added to it more so i'd be very interested to hear what you think. anyway - your tune. big subs, love them. the beat needs more variation but i think the hits you've used a really sick, and the idea of the quite rigid jungle beat is pretty sick. i think it needs a bit more variation in texture.. you can see from the soundcloud waveform that it's pretty solid throughout.. try stripping it down at points, building it up again etc. but it's a sick idea and when finished will be a great tune i'm sure

@naroja - thanks alot. which bell bit were you talking about? the synths aren't actually samples and they're all quite bell - like haha, so i'm confused as to what bit you mean, but if you generally just mean the chords, then yeah that's a great idea i'll try it out later in the piece. like your piece, and you seem to have pointed out yourself the things i would have pointed out, so keep at it - i look forward to hearing it drop haha.

@jay zest - thanks alot, have a listen to where i'm at at the moment see what you think. really like your tune, nice to hear ambient vibes and the sub is so peng, but you need to either bump the volume or EQ it a bit cus even with my sub up it wasn't prominent enough. nice drum work, nice variation.

anyway, i've gone back to the tune and done more stuff to it.. messed with the beat more, vaguely messed around with the mix but still it's not in anyway finished EQ/mastering wise. added a vocal chop up that i'm feeling (guess the track it's from), let me know what you think. still not done, of course.

J 13 – Nine25

I loved this, so chilled out. I can’t fault this. The guitars playing off each other are really nice. I like where you are going with the synths at the end. Very nice man.

Haack – Heathen

Really like feel of this one, very dark. Good sound pallet. Really like the pad that comes in at 0.58. Drums start to build up nicely with the hats and stuff. Really like it man.

The breadman

Not bad for you’re first song, Im also working on my first song. The production bible is like godlike. Also check out Depones videos on YouTube, of making dubstep drums and parallel compression. Some good ideas going on here. Keep at it.

The dub lemon

Intro was so good. Haha. Again a good sound pallet going on. What’s the sound at around 0.45? I think I have heard it before? Not a bad thing, just wondering where it’s from. The trance like parts that come in over the top are nice. Can’t really fault it, good production work.

Geeza

I like the way this track is going for sure. Only thing I could comment on would be to me the hi hats in the intro sound a bit harsh, but again that could be just me. Some amazing sounds in there. Do you have any ideas for the drop yet?

Again another 4 really inspiring tracks

Haak: Thanks Man! Uploaded an update, really small addition, but I've attempted to carry it a bit farther. Got a few more ideas for it. Thinking of grabbing a good bell sound and throwing that in.
For yours you were asking about structure, "On Heathen" I think that 3rd wave in of the vocal type ambient noise could be played twice possibly, feels like it should be repeated for some reason in my head... I'd also bring that pad you brought in at 0:55-0:56ish after a drop. Lovin' the Punchy Kick on this track.

Oscar: Thanks, I've added a small drop in there towards the end hehe, could bring it a few places. Yours is sounding good! Hah I was worried about mistaking the synth for samples, but thats good though, more control in a synth. I love what happends to the beat around 21-23 as far as the pattern goes, really nice shuffly beat, also it was nice to hear it at the end as well.

Update:

Soundcloud

Thinking of separating the two "chorus" synth parts with a drop possibly... might space it out too much tho....

Quick notes to self on this last one I Uploaded^ :
- Possible fast vibrating siren type raise after the 1:26 drop
- NEEDS SUB BASS!
- Possible bit crushing & harder synth / adjusted synth on top after drop

thanks for all the feedback people, havent worked anymore on it tho, spent all day playing around with a new tune, had some great ideas but turned out quite SHIT imo :)
oh and i agree that wobble is shit its very temporary but the harsh synth coming in at 1:30 is what makes it so good imo :P o that has to stay but wobble has to go

anyways
oscarhenson - your tune is coming out really great loving those vocals :)

geeza - LOVE the sound design on your wob nice sample but dosent really fit the track where theyr arranged right now shud put some effects over them aswell imo
also the kick drum needs some boost can barely hear it :( but wob! :)

narrator - awesome! i usually hate this kind of dubstep but this was good
shud change/eq/layer/do something to kick and snare tho... they sound way to generic for me taste :( but bassline is kickass

dub lemon - nice nice nice. loving the synth and the atmosphere of it. not a fan of the snare tho :(

well heres what ive been working on all day -
Soundcloud

i dunno. in my vision this sounded so much better..

@Naroja: Yhes definitely needs subz, feelin the second drop, don't think it need siren, but if you do use a siren have it as a stab and bring it on the first bar with delay of the second drop.

matty seizure - thanks for the feedback appreciate it. your right about the hats will deffo be sorting that out and naaaa im useless at leads and drops seriously not my strong point. thats maybe 1 thing i'll need to research the theory for such as melodys and structure :)

nacklewicket - thanks for the feedback :) yeah i may change it up completly as im not really feeling it and yh the arrangment isnt the one atm just playing with a few ideas!! deffo need changing the drums just wanted peoples opinion before i changed it up a bit :)

okay feedback on your track

im not really into dnb at all bit this is good, a proper rave up track!! arrangement is lovely could skank to this all day (or whateva people do to dnb). bass sounds are nice and that synth compliments it brilliantly. would like to hear a few fx samples though but the track is fine as it is...... top work mate!!!!

@ Gombles - dunno which track you were asking for feedback on, but the one in your sig - harry dubber - im really feelin that. Maybe needs something to move it along at times maybe a bit mroe percussion, but its a sick track.

@ Nacklewicket - I like the ideas in this one, especially the bit 1.12 - 1.43, all fits together really nicely. Id just say the drums lack the punch they need to drill through the mix, and the bass sounds a little muddy, but as you say you can sort that out in the mix! Also the transition at the end of that section is a little dodgy. The big bass swoop worked earlier in the song, but the way the other melody just fades out just doesnt work for me. In the rest of the section there seems to be a pad that i can barely hear which just doesnt sit with the rest of the song, dont know if its something dodgy with clashing frequencies or a quiet instrument or what but that maybe needs attention. Other than that, wicked idea.

@idlemode - what can i say: lovely tune, will be listening to that again. As someone else said i think, the intro sounds good, but when the tune drops its sweet, not what i expected, but better!

@blue notes - nice tune, when the keys come in at about 55 secs, its maybe alittle loud, thats all the criticism i can give, look forward to hearing the finished product, drums are tight, maybe a little reverb to hold them together.

@j-13: musically, i love all the ideas, this is just my personal taste but im not too keen on the synth sounsd for instance - no face, when the bass comes in, it needs some warmth and some movement in my opinion. To give it a bit of a growl. Id say all the instruments need some more fx on them! but then thats me, im mad for fx.

@haack - heathen - really nice tune - dark and spacy - nout more to say than bravo. Love the bassline on the other tune aswell bangin. Maybe jsut a couple more accidnetals to keep it interseting yet miniaml

Its not dubstep, but id appreciate feedback, negative or positive on this tune. Its my first proper attempt at a dnb tune.

@rubiconguava: Wow, looks like you put alot of work into that intro, love when it drops was not expecting that at all, think you could put a little more weight on to the snare, and maybe not too much HF on the reese transitions.

Update to recent tune I posted earlier:

-Turned the kick down a few db
-Spaced it out a bit more, and redefined the structure of the tune
-Added additional mid bass that hits every 4 bars

Not sure about the second bit with the dub vocal, should I keep going after that or go into a break?
Cheers.
