Re: Dubstep? ....................?
seriously?
How can you recommend something to someone when they've asked for something that needs to conform to their subjective view of "good".
I would suggest at least telling us what sort of thing you like already so we can recommend something based on that.
Give us a benchmark - a control. Otherwise, your post just seems lazy and uninterested.

I think you can just recommend a wide spectrum of sounds you like and let them check out which artists sound interesting to them.DFRNT wrote:seriously?

Re: Dubstep? ....................?
Forgive me for posting such an interesting thread Mr. DFRNT. Allow me to be more specific. Dubstep is new to me. I have a limited knowledge of what's out there and I want to become more expansive in my taste of this kind of music. So far I only know Skream, Benga, 2562, Coki, and some artists on the Hyperdub label. So I apologize yet again if this post disturbed you in some kind of way. I just want some suggestions to expand my current library of dubstep.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING
COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Seen, well you've started your listening in the right area! See Dopocc's post above, have a listen to myspaces/mixes/etc, find your own preferred sound and start delving.ventuszord wrote:Forgive me for posting such an interesting thread Mr. DFRNT. I'd say have a listen to some mixes. Xlr8r, Fact Mag and the Dubstep Allstars CD's...
Then you can see what you're into from there really.

Re: Dubstep? ....................?
No need to be cheeky, people don't know your background so this is way you had a response in that way, there is an unbelievable amount of threads made with little detail apart from "recommend me some dubstep" or " any 1 got ne sick dub wobbles dat i can play on my laptop" obviously i'm not saying you were the latter but stating the artists that you like already is a good starting point.ventuszord wrote:Forgive me for posting such an interesting thread Mr. DFRNT. Re: Dubstep? ....................?
Your post didn't disturb me, but as has been mentioned now - lots of people just post asking for someone to recommend them "dubstep".ventuszord wrote:Forgive me for posting such an interesting thread Mr. DFRNT. The whole genre term has become so wildly expansive that people could recommend you 50 tracks, and not even have touched the surface of what's available, or what you might like. Without anything to go on - people can't recommend you anything. Describing something as "dubstep" is about as generic as describing something as "blue" - it categorises to some degree, but really doesn't give away much in the way of specifics.
Would you go to a forum on shoes and say "recommend me some shoes" ? - Surely you'd at least give them your size, and what you wanted them for. Trainers, dress-shoes etc.
Sure - it's not the greatest analogy, but you get the idea.
