http://www.xbox-scene.com/

I haven't really looked in to it for a while but its a cat and mouse game. with the 360 you reflash the DVD firmware, some new games come out that break the hack.... so you have to reflash again with a newer hack.
Every now and again microsoft ban loads of people from live when theyve modded their dvd drives...I think theres a peremenant mod but its easily detected by MSF so you would be banned from live.

Totally unrelated... I did my Wii when they first came out, soldered the chip on myself and flashed the firmware. Never had a problem with it so far but when I went to my mate's at Christmas the internals were all different and much smaller - I didn't even attempt it, am pretty good with my hands and they're steady as a rock but I can't solder links as fine as a human hair :o

Wow some mod jobs you have to be a ninja, back in the day i used to do playstations they were like 32 wire chips...was like trying to defuse a bomb sweating all over the place praying you did frazzel something. Got easier over time though and less wires :P Still under my bed was like a Console graveyard filled with PS1's and Saturns!

I think you can soft mod the WII can't you?

Yup, all you need is an SD card. The new black ones can't read burnt discs, but you can still still load stuff off an external HD.
