not really... but lets no get fussed on vocab.
how can they find ur (or my or that dude's) absolutely amazing tunes if they have no idea we even exist? how can you even start if the only people who know you produce music are the other producers following you on soundcloud and the people who you feel are lucky enuff to be bored by your life story.
now im not saying be ridiculous and send your tunes daily to the same bloke who has never replied to you.... but a gentle nudge to let them know that you may have quality tunes to share is a definite must if you want to get the ball rolling.

So every producer youve heard of has sent you tunes and thats how you found out about them?
How do people find out about new artist? they look for them

thats only true for the big artists who have not yet established a good reputation. If your a nobody, you will stay a nobody until you let people know you're there!
i see ur point that maybe you'll look way cooler if blogs/labels come to you, but they will only be the shitty ones which no one pays attention to, so whats the point in waiting for them in the first place?

dubstep as a genre is so oversatured with producers, i doubt very seriously that anyone producer is going to be "discovered". i mean, yeah sure, i might "discover" random sick producers on soundcloud. but every last unsigned producer will never be discovered that way. realistically, some sort of hustle needs to be involved.
even with the big names....nobody discovered those motherfuckers. i'd hate to see where dubstep would be today if mala or whoever was sitting around waiting for mans to find their music randomly.

there's nothing wrong with emailing blogs, although be aware that many blogs get so many emails they might not reply.
Your best bet is to send a quick email saying 'hi, I'm DJ qwertyuiop, I write dubstep in the style of XYZ, here's my soundcloud page, I'd love it if you wanted to feature me, maybe i can do an exclusive mix or something for you"
might not come to anything, but it's worth doing now and again....

Imo there's nothing wrong with contacting music blogs to get your music out there... as long as you don't spam your name or soundcloud links through e-mails and shit.

I don't see why people think this shit just happens. Even if you make the most amazing music ever, with the vast amount of shit on the internet and all the producers and music, there's just nothing guaranteeing anyone will find you. For every ONE person out there just "waiting" for someone to find them, there's 3,000 people pushing their shit like crack that is inevitably going to make finding you almost impossible.
It's a bit difficult to search for an artist if you've never heard of them before.....unless you just sit in google typing in name ideas with the word, "Dubstep" after it. You can probably guarantee any producer that has any kind of reputation within the genre will tell you they didn't get that way by just sitting at home watching tv hoping someone is hearing the track they uploaded a week ago on soundcloud.

No doubt, but those 3,000 produce generic tripe, so you know, when someone is producing something with the sickness, word spreads.
