Hello! I'm new to this, both production and the site.

Here's a track i've been working on, needs some editing and mixing down but you get the idea. Constructive criticism very much appreciated. I'll try my best to provide good feedback to other users too..

Mouldy Soul wrote:@Imperial valley of the kings, that is wicked mate, loving the bass in it, maybe needs some sub along with it at times, loving the melodies in it very eastern sounding, reckon you easily to anti climax where it ends, then have a pad and some strings like you'e got have a riser and drop back into the main bass section.

@oscar nice drums, nice tracks decent progression, like it when it drops out and builds back up but reckon you could build more tension before you drop it back it, like use a riser or pitch sweep or something to signify wats comeing next and to give it more of an impact, but nice one overall :)

@tipo nice sounds, decent mix down, cool mix of styles, I like turtles as well, wierd sample! kinda reminds me of that bassline style, maybe fatten up the synth sounds by compressing and stuff :) Think it could use a few more synth sounds and more progression during the sections as it's kinda static at times :) But nice one :)

@narrator sweet sounds proppa fat mate, all the sounds are there just need to make a progression for it as it's a bit short, but sounds really good mate :)

Here's my latest dubby thing:

Feedback appreciated :)
^^ The Strings in the 2nd part of your song are awesome :p really like them.
Though i think you should put more time in progressing your bassline, using osscilation and such.
Keep up the work, the melody got me banging :D

@six sense Lol at the sample. It sounds a bit choppy. I feel like you could use some more OSC's on the main bass and you should maybe make the hats sound a little cooler, they sound really default.
@Fonnovo Seems like your main bass when it comes in, comes out of nowhere. A little too high frequency if you ask me. I feel like you need a better snare. Sounds not hard enough, and alot of reverb.

Tell me what you guys think about this.

Love the intro. Seriously love it... And that kick hit's the spot nicely
I think the main "wh'a wh'a" could do with a changing every now and again to keep it fresh (maybe change the tone so it's less harsh? Or rhythem at a 1/12 rate at the end of a bar to give it some more momentum)
But yeah, the more I listen the more I like the 8-bit type sounds

Had to be done on iPod Headphones the other night, so excuse the levels...
So i got this loop, and apart from variation both the bass and melody, the only other thing I'm thinking would be to chop up a break and chuck it in as an incidental... quite like to keep it minimal
I've not got great speakers (more top line PC speakers then dedicated moniters) so I'm not really sure how the bass is sounding either

@JemGrover

Love the sound of it so far, but yeah, the bass I think needs to stand out a little more. Not much, but a little.

Right, feel like this song is wrapping itself up quite nicely but I don't think it's quite finished yet. Need some advice on the final stages :)

Soundcloud

@JemGrover - Really likin the vibes of your track but a lot still needs to be done to it. maybe introduce some more little incidental noises etc to keep it flowin better and some more bass variation would be nice. As far as the mixdown goes it's sounding alright to me, just need to raise that sub a bit i'd say. Be careful with it because it could be something really special if you take it in the right direction..

@Supermotor - Tunes sounding alright though there are a few things I would change. Again your sub gets a bit lost in the track. I also really can't appreciate the formant filter style wowowow part of your bassline, SO overdone atm but the synth at the very start of the first drop is pretty prime. The mixdown kinda sounds like the tune was made on headphones or something? maybe pay a bit more attention to it and if you havn't already try an get it played through some proper monitors?

@Sixth Sense: Nice tune so far....love the samples I've used one of them before/

@paravrais: Like the 8bit style lead. Felt the silence was a littttle overdone before the drop though

You've been producing longer than me. Regardless, I feel it would sound better if the bass was a bit beefier. Try playing around with it and see what happens.
I like the actual song, the idea, but in my opinion, the bass just needs some umph :D

@ FSTZ
Got some great bass patches working together there, i like it. The vocal sample used is spot on mate, great tune overall. Keep it up!

One i've been working on since returning from a fortnights vacation. Any feedback appreciated and returned.
