Read that sentence and thought instantly "waste thread" massive is so last decade.

I would have to say thor/malstrom, arturia stuff is good too, as is 'chimera' and operator.

Really couldn't be further from the truth. Most powerful synth mentioned so far.

Don't have a favorite right now.

MAYBE reaktor. I'm jazzed on it.

Nothing wrong with massive, It does what I need it too, its wicked....
I don't use reason, I use logic, so I don't use thor or malstrom, but I've had a go with them and they are pretty good, I Just don't like reason as a stand alone interface.
Haven't tried out chimera or operator so can't comment on them...

U have to pick just 1 tho ;) lol.

+1 - You might be able to make a lot of sounds with sytrus but everything that comes out of it sounds so cheesy. It was bad enough to put me off fruityloops years ago, maybe it's just fruitys engine though, but I think it's the synth as i've heard good shit made in fruity.

If I have to pick just one then it will probably have to be malstrom...ah hell yeah i'll go malstrom at the moment, i've been using it a looooot.

Massive is ok, I just find it has a very signature sound which i'm quite bored of now, I think if your using it for leads and pads you could still make some interesting stuff with it but it's constantly abused for making mid-lines and they all just sound the same :s

Learning to use Fm8 at the moment... It's opening me up to all the sounds I got excited about over the years. Plus the reverse delay effects preset is gorgeous

unless you go completely overboard with FM everything that comes out of sytrus sounds solid as fuck. I haven't used FM8 but I've never been restricted by using sytrus and I always get a good sound out of it so it's top dog for me :D

Yeah thanks to FM I've been able to construct sounds from the ground up to sound exactly how I want them it has opened a whole new door of possibilities and I just started using it recently give it some time and who knows what I'll be getting out of this bad boy!

I can never really get exactly what I want with FM synths and they always end up sounding really plastic. Additive is the type of synthesis where I can actually shape the sound exactly how I want it. Takes a penis load of time to edit envelopes for each partial though if you're going that deep.
