I always tell the unknowing that dubstep is bass and drum, not the other way round. After that it's up to them...

Let the Haters hate. It's our sound. luckily I like sharing and, most people I let hear the more people that love it. I think Dubstep has a very different rhythm then most electronic music. It has more of a back beat and, the bass is there. I have brought over some d&b heads and I am glad. I feel that they need something different and need to be inspired by music again.

soooo what! different strokes fo different folks. besides hard to compare dubstep...well then again... i see it as the blessed godchild of dub in that skankin spleefn soulful, pacing and MOOD. Lots of D&B heads these days i see are speed freaks looking for some head banging music...the louder and more obnoxious, the better. talk about oil and water!

I think drugs really ruined a lot of music. I like your point about oil and water. But, I think there is a lot to the idea that Dubstep has pulled a lot of the feeling of early Jungle, to which d&b came from. With the vibes and all.

My mate who's a House/Breaks head walked into a dubstep room and was skankin like a bastard within seconds. Then Vex'd came on and he went mental! I was predomantly Jungle and Techy/Minimal House based (with the odd dark garage/dubstep tune in the box) then heard burial, my poor bank balance

that vexd got me too

somebody was thumping out some music next door,and i just bought the cd. and i just cranked it up,and his music went quiet after 5 minuites

, i call it snobbery. COME ON! it's not about the process, it's all about the results. this is hell of a point your dude has kinda forgotten. as a drumfunk & dubstep lover, i am goddam sure that dubstep has earned its place under the sun more than most of dnb stuff these days (talking abut the whole clownstep machinery, uknow) or the s-called hiphop (i'd rather call it "mtv-hop").

the reason i fell in love with dubstep is it's innovating aspect. you claim "dubstep doesn't genenarate, it only re-arranges"? but none said it doesn't. this is the point where dubstep is similar to dnb - both are sample-based music, produced by hi-tech tools, re-generating the past and building the future at the same time, and bla-bla-bla. i just love this quote - "Dubstep is a culture built around twin drives, the drive to press things FWD, and the drive to preserve and revere the past. It is like really badly produced drum and bass played at 1/2 speed with keyboard lines from a randomly made up scale using a cheap and nasty preset, most of the time, or like Hybrid's "Know Your Enemy" re-written by a talentless spack.

i convinced him of dubstep's worthiness by pointing him at paul rose's N4 mix. no one can withstand its charms.

all my mates are drum and bass heads but i have seen a massive surge in heads now who want to go down to night in bristol. when i first started to go down to the nights i felt quite young compaired to the Majority of people at the dances but resently more and more people of my age group have started to pay alot more intrested in dubstep...

was out for dinner with the head of a&r for a top major label (wont reveal the name here) and i was explaining to him hotflush and dubstep.

he was like its all well and good, but it doesnt sell. To have a budget to release an artist you want to be making a massive profit, otherwise its pointless - so its only really about rock and pop music. Unfortunately according to him, urban music doesnt generate that, there are exceptions of course.

Lovely guy but I came to the conclusion that majors only care about cash and profit, none of the keeping true to rebelious underground music vibe works with them.

Which is probably a good thing IMHO.

most defo is, going mainstream is what killed ukg in my opinion. defo dont want that happening here..
