iyo who is killing things on a percussive level?

Post by mrrogers » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:48 pm

Please resist the urge to say "I is!!".

Let's drop names. Let's go. Because kick (1) snare (3).... :a:

I think Anti-Social as a crew goes deep with the percussion.

Discuss.

And also, let's get some tunes posted where we be like "what's going on here???".

Or Coki hi-hats. Serious.

I agree with Shackleton and Ramadanman all their stuff excels percussively. Listening to these two really opened me up to thinking abt percussion over melody.

On a more funky/house tip - Martyn's Fabric mix CD gave me loads of perc ideas.

Kaiori Breathe actually for me at the moment, also out of Dubstep B-Complex has it down. I'm sure there must be many many more but these are the only ones that come to mind at the moment, probably because i've heard them both today. A lot of breakcore/IDM artist always really impress me with their percussion and lots of old stuff from the DMZ and Phaeleh etc

Definitely Rockwell, but it's drum n bass. Heard something about a track by him with more than
100 tracks of percussion. It sounds awesome too.

Don't know the best example but I like this track a lot because of the percussion:

Definitely Benga. Try as I might, I can never get the clean, crisp sound all his beats seem to have, it just works so well.

99.9% of dubstep has horrible drums, i think that's the genres biggest downfall. off the top of the head the only artist that comes to mind is joker.

Does not compute? I mean he has good drum samples but we're talking about percussion.
